Battle of the Hundred Years' War in which Henry V of England defeated the French on 24 Oct 1415, mainly through the overwhelming superiority of the English longbow. The French lost more than 6,000 men to about 1,600 English casualties. As a result of the battle, Henry gained France and the French princess, Catherine of Valois, as his wife. The village of Agincourt (modern Azincourt) is south of Calais, in N France.
