Bentley, Edmund Clerihew 1875-1956. British
author. He invented the four-line humorous
verse form known as the clerihew, first used
in Biography for Beginners 1905 and in
Baseless Biography 1939. He was also the
author of the classic detective story Trent's
Last Case 1912.
