Baxter, Richard 1615-1691. English cleric.
During the English Civil War he was a
chaplain in the Parliamentary army, and after
the Restoration he became a royal chaplain.
In 1662 the Act of Uniformity drove him out
of the church. In 1685 he was imprisoned for
nearly 18 months for alleged sedition.
