Bainbridge, Beryl 1933- . English novelist,
originally an actress, whose works have the
drama and economy of a stage play. They
include The Dressmaker 1973, The Bottle
Factory Outing 1974, and the collected short
stories in Mum and Mr Armitage 1985.
