1377-1446. Italian Renaissance architect. One
of the earliest and greatest Renaissance
architects, he pioneered the scientific use
of perspective. He was responsible for the
construction of the dome of Florence
Cathedral (completed 1438), a feat deemed
impossible by many of his contemporaries.
