1605-1682. English author and physician. Born in London, he travelled widely in Europe before settling in Norwich in 1637. He is displayed a richness of style in Religio Medici/The Religion of a Doctor 1643, a justification of his profession; Vulgar Errors 1646, an examination of popular legend and superstition; Urn Burial and The Garden of Cyrus 1658; and Christian Morals, published posthumously in 1717.
