1935- . British dramatist, whose work has
aroused controversy because of the savagery
of some of his themes, for example the brutal
killing of a baby, symbol of a society
producing unwanted children, in Saved 1965.
His later works include Black Mass 1970 about
apartheid, Bingo 1973, and The Sea 1973.
