GP Leaderboard is a program that will keep a record of the Formula One racing season. This version is setup for 1994 (Circuits) and I will be updating as the seasons go along. The program will allow you to keep records of Race Positions, Times, Pole Positions, Fastest Laps and the overall CHAMPIONSHIP. It also displays information about the circuits and a simple diagram showing a rough outlay of the tracks and their names for chicanes, straights and bends. Also on the track picture you will find numbers corresponding to any particular gear that the driver will be in, to take the obstacle he's about to face, such as chicanes e.t.c. The circuits AIDA and BUENOS AIRES are the only circuits that I have not been able to get any data on, except a rough layout. NOTE: When viewing the Championship tables (Drivers, Constructors) the top three will be highlighted with different colours : 1st .. Red 2nd .. Green 3rd .. Orangey Brown The Championship tables allow you to scroll through the names by moving the mouse up/down (You can only scroll the Constructors table if the team names go off the screen). NOTE: This first version of GP Leaderboard is setup for 1994, which means the information for each circuit is correct for 1994 only unless the 1995, 1996 e.t.c seasons use the same circuits. This does not affect the main program and you can still enter any team and it's drivers. THE MENUS PROJECT ------- LOAD Lets you re-load any data that you may have saved previously. There is an example file on the disk that can be loaded to give you an idea on how to enter the data. SAVE Saves any data that you have loaded into the program any edited. This option will not work if you have started a new season, therefore you must use the Save As... Option. SAVE AS Lets you save data as a new file (all Data files must end in .F1DAT e.g .. 1994.F1DAT ... 1995.F1DAT). VIEW TRACK [F1] Displays a picture of the current circuit selected. This picture shows a rough layout of the track, Gear changes and other circuit information. DOCUMENTS [HELP] Loads this document. QUIT [ESC] Quits the program after confirmation. EDIT DATA --------- POSITIONS [F10] Lets you enter/edit the information regarding drivers finishing positions, times and pole position and fastest lap. (THIS OPTION WILL NOT WORK UNTIL YOU HAVE ENTERED THE TEAMS DATA). TEAM DATA This option is only used once per season and is for entering the information of the racing Teams and their Drivers. If any team has only one driver then that driver MUST be entered in as Driver 1. The program needs this data in order to work. RACING CIRCUITS --------------- Select the racing circuit to edit/view. CHAMPIONSHIP ------------ DRIVERS [F2] Displays the drivers championship table for the season. The top three are displayed in different colours to the rest and are as follows: 1st .. Red 2nd .. Green 3rd .. Orangey Brown You can scroll through the names using the mouse (up/down). CONSTRUCTORS [F3] Displays the Teams championship and is layed out similar to the drivers championship. ------------------------------ 2. HOW TO USE GP LEADERBOARD V1.1 The following is an example how to start the 1994 season. When the program first starts, enter the season year (1994) and press return. You will then be taken to the main screen. This screen comprises of various menus that can be accessed by holding down the right mouse button: Before you can enter any data regarding the drivers positions for each race, you must first enter the Teams Data. To do this select from the menu EDIT DATA / TEAM DATA. You must then confirm this. You will now be faced with a screen with Driver 1, Driver 2 and Team along the top. This is where you enter the data for the teams. You must have access to the correct names and teams for the season in order for this program to work correctly. This information can be found in the Formula One Grand Prix Magazine or Motor Sport. ** ONLY ENTER ONE OF THE DRIVERS NAMES. ONLY USE THE TEAMS MAIN NAME. ** ONLY USE ONE NAME PER ENTRY (E.G: SENNA not AYRTON SENNA : JORDAN not JORDAN HART ** Entering the TEAM DATA: Enter Driver 1 and press RETURN. Enter Driver 2 and press RETURN. Enter the Team name and Press RETURN. (The program will automatically set all names to UPPER-CASE). IF YOU FAIL TO ENTER A NAME IN DRIVER 1 THEN YOU WILL BE TAKEN BACK TO THE MAIN SCREEN ** IF A TEAM HAS ONLY ONE DRIVER, THAT DRIVER MUST BE ENTERED AS DRIVER 1 AND YOU CAN LEAVE DRIVER 2 BLANK BY PRESSING RETURN AGAIN ** Driver/Team Layout for 1994 --------------------------- Driver 1 Driver 2 Team --------------------------------------------------------- Hill Senna Williams Schumacher Lehto Benetton Alesi Berger Ferrari Hakkinen Prost* Mclaren Herbert Lamy Lotus Barrichelo Irvine Jordan Bernard Panis* Ligier Blundell Katayama Tyrrell Fittipaldi Suzuki* Footwork Wendlinger Frentzen Sauber Comas Beretta Larrousse Alboreto Martini Minardi Brabham Gounon Simtek Gachot Belmondo Pacific NOTE(*): Drivers with a star * are not confirmed as of 11-17 March 1994. E.G It is beleived that Brundle may be racing for Mclaren instead of Prost. When all the names and teams are entered, keep pressing return until the mouse cursor re-appears, you can then check your spelling and click the Left Mouse Button when ready. If you have made a mistake you will have to re-select EDIT DATA / TEAM DATA. The TEAM DATA you enter is the program's lifeline. You must make sure that the drivers entered in the POSITIONS data is spelt the same way as in the TEAM DATA. SAVE THE DATA by selecting PROJECT / SAVE AS. Give the file an appropriate name (e.g 1994.F1DAT) YOU MUST ENTER THE SUFFIX .F1DAT IN ORDER FOR THE PROGRAM TO FIND THE DATA WHEN RE- LOADING. (THE PROGRAM LOOKS IN THE DRAW F1DATA FOR DATA FILES.) ** THE PROGRAM ALLOWS UPTO 14 TEAMS AND 2 NAMES PER TEAM ** You can now look at the championship tables where you will see your entries. ENTERING DATA FOR THE RACES, FROM RACE 1 Considering that you have entered the TEAMS DATA, you can enter the race positions. Okay, Race 1 has just finished on telly (1994), and these were the results: 1st: Senna Time: 1h 20m 20s 2nd: Hill Time: 2h 20m 20s 3rd: Prost Time: 3h 20m 20s 4th: Blundell Time: 4h 20m 20s 5th: Alesi Time: 5h 20m 20s 6th: Berger Time: 6h 20m 20s Now to enter the data into your program: Select The corect Circuit from the RACING CIRCUITS menu. Select EDIT DATA / POSITIONS or press [F10]. You can now enter the above data. If you have not entered or loaded any TEAM DATA then the program will not accept any entries. Enter: Senna [RETURN] The program will now check through the TEAM DATA to see if Senna exists, if it does not or you have spelt it wrong, then you will be asked to re-enter. ** ONLY USE SURNAMES ** (Max characters 20). The TIME can be entered in any format as the program only displays this data for your sake and not for the championship Evaluations. E.G 1h 20m 20s or 1.20.20 e.t.c Example: Senna 1h 20m 20s Mansell +1h Prost +2h Brundle +3h Alesi +4h Berger +5h When you have entered the TIME for the driver, his TEAM will be entered automatically by the program according to the TEAM DATA you have entered. POLE POSITION and FASTEST LAP Enter hear some extra information about the race. Use SURNAMES ONLY. If Senna had Pole Position then enter Senna for POLE POSITION e.t.c. Then enter the driver who had the fastest lap of the race. ** THE FASTEST LAP ENTRY ONLY ACCEPTS THE DRIVER, YOU CANNOT ENTER THE TIME ** (Maybe Next version). When you have entered the Race Details, you can view the Championship tables. DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP [F2] -------------------- The heading POLE shows how many Pole Positions that driver has had during the season. The heading FAST shows how many fastest laps that driver has had during the season. To enter details for the other races, all you need to do is select the race from the RACING CIRCUITS menu and repeat the above. ------------------------------------ If you have any moans, queries or wish to register for any updates then please contact me at the address below including your name and address.
