   This is the first program that I have released as shareware
due to my busy life as a student. I wrote the program to help
with the many physics reports I have to write. Basically this
program takes a set of data, plots them on a graph and than
tries to find the line of best fit.


   The program is written in AMOS Professional and seems to be
incompatible with AMOS 1.3 (a good reason to upgrade methinks
8->). At the time of writing I am waiting for Europress to
release the AMOS Professional compiler. The program is very fast
but you do have to wait a while if you use more than 200 points,
but this will not normally be a problem. This will be solved
when I get a copy of the compiler, then all you lucky people who
register will be able to get a compiled version of the program.

personalised copy of the program with the save and print
functions enabled, along with information on the file structure
and various other junk.

   And now to the program:
   The first thing you will want to do when you boot up the
program is to enter some data. This can be done in two ways
either by loading off disk or typing in from scratch.

   Typing in data is very easy, you just go up to the DATA menu
and select INPUT. You will be asked the number of data points,
after you type this in you must input the data in X,Y form
either by using a comma or pressing enter after each point. The
program will then work out the data for the graph, this happens
so fast you won't notice - unless you use a LOT of points.

   Loading data is even easier, go to the FILE menu and choose
LOAD..., this will bring up a requester. the data files have a
suffix of .GRA and you will notice that there are some on the
disk already. Choose something like Geo_Reg.GRA and the program
will load it.

   You may want then to view a graph of the data, go to the
GRAPH menu and select DRAW GRAPH this will show the graph nicely
scaled to fit the screen. You can also print out this graph if
you register, this option works on both the Workbench drivers
and TurboPrint and is normally best if you turn the smoothing on.

   You can then analyse the data in varying ways to find the
best fit, this is done by going to the data menu, moving down to
analyse and across to what analysis you want to perform. After
you have done this you might be able to draw the best fit on the
graph, this is in the GRAPH menu where it says best fit.


   That is the basics over with.

   No doubt you will have noticed other items in the menus by
now. In the file menu, NEW clears all the data - remember to
save first if you have registered. READ DOCS displays this file
from inside the program. INFO shows who the registered owner is,
this comes on when you boot the program. I am sure you can guess
what QUIT does.

   In the DATA menu there is an option to edit the data, this is
not very good at the moment but will be fixed in V1.1. LIST
Displays the points in the List window, sometimes you might see
something like 88.299999999 when you entered 88.3 but don't
worry about this it seems to be a problem with AMOS. PRINT sends
this list to any printer connected. You won't need SORT very
often, it is only needed if you type the data out of order. DATA
INFO is just something left over from when I first started the
program, it just shows the high and low X and y values, the
graphic scaling and the current device - this is the name the
program will always look under for the data files.



Coming Attractions:
In V1.1 I hope to use a much better User Interface and better
editing layout. I hope to make V1.1 more configurable so things
like colours can be changed and if the compiler is released V1.1
will be a lot faster. You will hear details of these first if
you register, before I send copies into PD.
