COMPUTER GENERATED ART TOOLS As all Amiga artists know, the computer is a powerful tool for generating images, but what about when the computer itself plays artist? On this disk you will be able to experiment with a number of computer generating art programs. One of the oldest types of CGA is exemplified in the Superlines program, which generates a series of lines based on simple mathematical rules. This is one of the best of the line drawing programs, and while not great art, it does take you back to the roots of computer generated art, as line pictures of this type were some of the first CGA generated. The Mandelbrot set has long been popular with mathematicians to visually explore mathematics, and in the Mandelbrot drawer you will be able to explore in depth the amazingly complex and beautiful Mandelbrot images. Ray Tracing is another way a computer generates art, by taking an object you define and determining where points of light will strike it, and how the light interacts with different types of surfaces. QRT in the Ray Tracing drawer is a powerful script based Ray Tracer that will take a little work to learn. The included Scriptor will reduce the time it takes to create a script from hours to minutes. Using fractals, computers can do a very good job of generating images found in nature. Bonsai creates a tree, 3Dterrain and Island generate islands in water, and scenery generates mountainscapes of amazing realism. If you just want to explore fractals, FracGen will get you started. Thus disk was created on December 8, 1989. It was updated on February 15, 1991. All of the programs on this disk are, to the best of my knowledge, freely redistributable.
