FONT TOOLS

This is a collection of utilities for working with Amiga Fonts. For the
basics of working with the various types of fonts used on the Amiga, read
the article "About Amiga Fonts" on this disk.

The feature program is a full working demo of Font Works, a font creation
program available from Associated Computer Services which lists for $99.95. 
This demo does everything but save the font you have created, and has many
features including colorfont support and automatic shadowing. What it does
not have is any documentation other than the instructions on how to put
together the original archive (which I have already done for you). The
tools are almost exactly like Dpaint's, and it has plenty of pull-down
menus, so you should be able to feel your way around. If you get really
stumped, take a look at the manual at your local computer dealer, and if
you decide you like it, go ahead and buy a copy. If you want it to work,
you must boot from this disk. Because it insists on residing on a disk
named font-works, I have named this disk Font-Works rather than Font-Tools. 

Also on this disk:
    
IFF2GEO: Translates IFF brushes into flat objects to be used in Aegis
Modeler and other 3D programs. An easy way to get text into the 3D
world by saving it as a brush.

SHOWFONT: Shows all of the characters of the font you select from your font 
directory. This new version allows you to change resolutions of the
displayed fonts, and if you click on a character it will tell you what key
or combination of keys is needed to type that character. It will even show
colorfonts if you have run the Color-Text program, but only in the four
Workbench colors. Unlike earlier versions, this one prefers to be run from
the CLI. You can run it from Workbench, put it will pop up a software
failure requester when you exit it. I've never had it fully crash the
system, so you can ignore the requester and still finish your work, but it
is annoying and a potential hazard.

COLOR-TEXT: patches your system to allow the use of Colorfonts. This is the 
official CBM release, and Colorfonts will be fully supported in 1.4. 
                                                              
FTS: Lists the names, types, location, and other information about your
system fonts.

CONMAC: Converts Macintosh fonts to Amiga fonts.

FONTFIXER: When you delete a font from a font directory, the font file
still thinks there should be a font there, and font requesters will show
fonts that are no longer accesible. Fontfixer will update the fonts to
reflect there actual current status. FontFixer is now a part of 1.3.

REN: Patches the font filename to tell the system to look on a specific
disk for that font's directory. This means that you can have many short
font files on your system disk, while the actual much larger font
directories can reside on another disk, which the system will ask for when
you try to load that font.

SETFONT: Notice anything peculiar about the system fonts on this disk?
SetFont allows you to change one or all of the window, title bar, screen
and screen title fonts. I have put several 8 point fonts to play with in
the font directory. The one being used now is called Flow.
