Version 5.2 of Spice for the Amiga has some changes from the earlier versions, as follows: 1. The input files to Spice are now typed in EXACTLY as they appear on your disk (or in ram). If the file is 741.inp, type the follwing: SPICE 741.inp that's all there is to that. If you get an error 205, Spice couldn't find the input file. If it's on a different device, make sure that you tell it!! Like df1:741.inp or RAM:741.inp. 2. Spice will now have 2 output files. The first, with the suffix .OUT is the same output file as before, except in tables, there are no extra "X"'s at the beginning, and no extra "Y"'s at the end. Also, the execution time format has been changed to make more sense. 3. The second output file will have a suffix of .DAT and is a table of the printed data from AC, DC. and Transient analysis. I added this to make it easier to get the data to plot. The first item has the type of data which follows, and can be one (and only one, at a time) of the following (AC ANALYSIS, DC ANALYSIS, TRANSIENT ANALYSIS). The next line in the file is the same column headers that appear in the standard print tables in the usual output file. From there on is the data, at least until the next type of analysis is printed. Some notes on this: If you don't have an AC, DC, or TRAN analysis, the data file will be 0 bytes long. If you don't specify .PRINT in your input file, again the data file will be 0 bytes long. See the enclosed sample .inp files to see how to use .PRINT. 4. If you have a long list of printed data, the limits of which are set on the .OPTION card, the .DAT file will grow in direct proportion to the number of data items printed out. Beware if you don't have much RAM. 5. If you have a machine with 1 meg of ram, see the file "important" included with this archive. 6. A new program by Ashok Vadekar called splot is included. This program provides a Probe type display of data in the printed data tables. To run type splot Note the filename is the one with .OUT on it. ****************************************************************************** ***** BE SURE TO SET STACK TO 60000 BEFORE RUNNING THE SPLOT PROGRAM ***** ****************************************************************************** You will have to copy the file req.library to your libs directory to be able to use Splot ****************************************************************************** 7. Thanks for all the feedback people!! Keep it up, I need to know what you think, and want me to add, or change.
