Friday 21 May 1802  Day 99

  Fresh breezes and rain at night.
     At noon calm and clear.

 "A dead calm the whole day, ship
     went round the compass.
  A discovery made by one of the
  convicts that the prisoners had
   entered into a compact three 
  different times to seize the ship
  and massacre the people but could
    not agree in the method of 
   undertaking. the last time was 
      about three weeks ago.
  Mr.Stubbs family much distressed."

 (Again we should look at facts- 
  the report states 'ONE of the
  convicts' made the discovery 
  -or was it mischief ?
 There is no mention in the Log !
   There is no offical enquiry !
 Later in Sydney the convicts, of 
   their own free will fronted 
 Governor King and expressed their
 gratitude for the kind and humane
 way they had been treated during
         the voyage -
  Therefore what reason did they  
    have to take over the ship ? 
 In any case there were many shrewd
   and sensible men amongst the
  convicts - and would such people
  even think of taking over a ship 
in such a bad geographic location ?
  My studies lead me to conclude
this entry resulted from ship-board
  gossip which got out of hand !)
