     Moderate breezes and squally.
          Overcast skies.

  "See the Island of St.Pauls at  
  daylight in the morning on our
  starboard bow. About 10 o'clock
  bore S.S.W. about 9 or 10 miles 
  distance. At sunset bore W. half
  South, and before dark scarcely 
  to be seen.
   In the morning it had much the 
  appearance of the dome and body
  of St.Paul's Cathedral, on one 
  end seperated by a valley from
  the other part of the island
  which is a mountain, gradually 
      descending to the sea.
  In the latter part of the day it
  had quite a different appearance
  and the top of the dome, as I call
  it, just appeared over the top of
   the other part of the island."
