I was tired of seeing all those web pages explaining how to get software for the PeeCee...Mac..Linux...
But I never saw a page on how to deal with MP3 on the AMIGA, so here it is!! I hope you enjoy!!
The AMIGA RULES dudes!! :))
Yes, you can hear MP3 sound files on your AMIGA! Of course you need a faaast CPU... a 060 is prefered ;) But it depends of course of the MP3 quality , some are more CPU-demanding, some are less (yeah!) :)
This is my favourite setup, it's fast, easy to install, and has a nice GUI (Graphical User Interface).
I have an A1260/50 Mhz 18 RAM, so my config is like MPEGA's default, I just set Buffer time to 4 secs
so playing is smoother, and enabled Force mono,
because multitasking gets smoother and because I have my AMIGA connected to my Seymour Duncan guitar
amplifier :) (yes! I play guitar... check my Home Page! :)
Don't forget that MPEGAPlayer requires
DeliTracker!
From the same author of MPEGAPlayer (Stéphane Tavenard), this is the CLI-based version of his MPEG audio player, it allows, amongst other things, the saving of MP3 files into AIFF files, for you to play later (handy for you slow CPU users :). Play16 v1.7 plays very well AIFF and other sound files and does 14-bit output.
This is the more stable MP1 and MP2 encoder I think... so far as I know... there's no decent MP3 encoder
for the amiga :(
You can read more on AMIGA audio-related stuff on the comp.sys.amiga.audio
newsgroup.
Pretty filled up with many MP3 files... :d
Cool site with links to many MP3 sites.
Official site of New World Music, this probably will never be down, the downside is that it only features audio clips of the songs.. not the entire songs..bummer! ;)
