Supported printers are o HP PCL compatible printers ( HP Laser- / Deskjets etc. ), o NEC P6 compatible printers ( NEC P6, EPSON LQ, etc. ) o FX-80 compatible printers ( Epson FX-80, Star LC-10, etc. ) and o Canon BJ-300 compatible printers. DVILW is a postscript converter for dvi files. Both programs support o virtual fonts o 2D und 3D graphics based on \special commands. There are existing implementations for Amiga computers, Atari ST computers, Apollo workstations, workstations with X11/Motif and IBM PC compatibles. @endnode @node Requirements "Special requirements" DVI requires AmigaOS Release 2.04 or higher (V37+). As always with TeX and graphics the best configuration is 2MB memory or more and at least 1MB of chip memory. DVILW should run on any AmigaOS. To use pattern matching with command line arguments, AmigaOS 2.04 or higher (V37+) is required. Both programs are able to use ARexx for automatic font generation. ARexx is part of AmigaOS 2.04 or higher (V37+). To use the online documentation, AmigaGuide is required. You need the C= Installer to use the provided installation script. Both packages should be available on any Aminet site. Last but not least, TeX and Metafont should be installed properly :-) @endnode @node Installation "Installation" Installation of DVI and DVILW is quite easy, using the provided installer script. Simply follow the guidelines given. To do a "by hand installation", you should: o Copy the executable files Bin/dvi and Bin/dvilw to a directory of your choice. This directory should be added to your path. For PasTeX users, TeX:bin would be a good choice. o Copy the configuration files Config/dvi.opt, Config/dvilw.opt, Config/dvilw.map and Config/dvilw.ps to TeX:config (PasTeX) or any directory specified with the environment variable TEXCONFIG. o Optional, you can copy the ARexx script Rexx/MakePKFont.rexx to your REXX: directory. o Change the copied files dvi.opt and dvilw.opt to your personal needs. At least PKPATH should be set to your personal needs. @endnode @node DVI "Working with DVI" DVI can be invoked from Workbench by a double click on its icon. As TeX is very command line oriented, DVI will mostly be invoked from a shell: dvi [@{"options" link DVIOptions}] [dvifile] If started from Workbench, the @{"options" link DVIOptions} are read from the Tooltypes of the DVI program and dvi file icons. Permanent options can be set in the configuration file dvi.opt in both cases. When the DVI screen came up with its control window, you can use the @{"Project menu" link ProjectMenu} to load a dvi file to preview. In addition, DVI adds an entry to the Workbenchs Tools menu, so you can select and load a dvi file from Workbench. The @{"Screen menu" link ScreenMenu} is available to move around in the current dvi document. The keyboard could be used for some actions, too. Press ENTER to get to the next, or BACKSPACE to get to the previous page. To scroll the current page, you can either drag the page with the mouse ( click into the current page and move the mouse while holding down the left mouse button ) or use the cursor keys. Print your dvi document or parts of it with the @{"Printer menu" link PrinterMenu}.
