1. Introduction
===============

                          Introduction
                          ------------

Have you ever had the problem of replacing an icon's image
without destroying its original tooltypes, icon type, and
position? Copying or renaming another icon always destroyed the
icon's original settings. You had then to re-enter the original
settings manually. In addition to that, you had to re-position
and re-fix that icon on your Workbench.

This problem will occur in quite a drastical manner if you're
planning to change your whole system's looks with a new set of
icons, e.g. with the icons distributed in the `MagicWB' package.
The installation of `MagicWB' itself won't cause any problems,
but you still might wish to use some of the `MagicWB' icons for
 other purposes, too.

Now RepIcon is what you've desperately been waiting for. RepIcon
replaces an icon's image with another icon's image, without
changing anything else. You can easily copy the image data of a
disk icon to an existing tool icon, or those of a project icon to
an existing drawer icon (any other combination works as well) -
the tooltypes, the icon type and the location will be the same as
 of the original icon.

2. Documentation
================

                          Documentation
                          -------------

2.1. System requirements
------------------------

                       System requirements
                       -------------------

You need Kickstart 2.0 or higher to run RepIcon.

2.2. Shell usage
----------------

                           Shell usage
                           -----------

 Template: RepIcon SOURCEICON/A,DESTICON/A

SOURCEICON is the filename of an icon containing the desired
graphics data that will be replaced in DESTICON.

It makes no difference whether or not .info suffixes are added to
 the filenames.

You can make RepIcon resident if you like. This will improve
 speed considerably.

2.3. DirectoryOpus installation
-------------------------------

                   DirectoryOpus installation
                   --------------------------

Sometimes it can be very useful to have a REPICON button or menu
configured in `DirectoryOpus'. You might do it the following way:

              AmigaDOS c:copy {fu} TO T:dummy.info
              Command OtherWindow
              AmigaDOS   c:repicon T:dummy.info {f}
              Command OtherWindow
              AmigaDOS c:delete T:dummy.info

              Flags: Rescan destination

To replace an icon's image with the graphics of another, first
click on the destination icon, then move the mouse pointer to the
opposite directory window and select an icon of the desired
looks. Then choose REPICON in your button bank or menu.

There is only little risk of doing something wrong. RepIcon will
only change any data if both input files are real icons. Keep in
mind that you could replace a wrong icon by mistake, so be a bit
 careful at the beginning.

                        ----------------

    v1.2 First public release

v1.3 Fixed a minor bug that caused a loss
of memory when the second icon couldn't
              be loaded.

Removed a very serious mistake in the
              documentation. Mr Huttenloher's address
was wrong - I inserted MY OWN address
              by mistake.
