PTA (Paragon-TransAmiga) v1.03

  Requirements:

    TransAmiga (registered version)

    PTA requires at least (if not more) than 1 Meg of memory. It uses
   40K of Chip RAM, and around 200K of Fast RAM.  It has not yet been
   tested on machines with only 1 Meg of memory.  PLoc requires that
   the resident font have IBM graphics characters.. TransIBM works
   fine.  To install TransIBM, add the line 'FF TransIBM.font' to
   your startup-sequence.
 

  Installation:

    Decompress the archive using LHArc to obtain the following files:

       PTA  -  Paragon door interpreter
       PLoc  -  CLI version of PTA for local use
       PTA.Doc  -  This documentation file
       Example.TXT  -  My BBS:Doors directory and Door.Exts file

    Note:  The optimal system will be one that puts all door-related
          programs in the BBS:Doors directory.  It is not required
          that you use this directory; however, it makes creating
          and maintaining doors much easier, and all further
          instructions will assume that it is used.

    Copy PTA and PLoc to the BBS:Doors directory.  Copy PTA.Doc to
   wherever you keep documentation.  There are currently three tested
   Paragon doors that work with PTA.. GlobalWar (GW110.LZH), KSE
   Space Empire (KSE101.LZH), and TransPoll (TPOLL94.LZH).  These
   should be configured as follows:

    Note: PTA and PLoc allow the use of magic pathnames, as shown in
   the executable line above.  If you have placed the door programs
   in any other directory than BBS:Doors, you cannot use "PTA G",
   "PTA K" or "PTA P".  You must instead use the full pathname, 
   such as "PTA BBS:MyDir/kse101".

    The executable line should be put into the Doors config section,
   using either TransConfig or (if you're used to it) a text editor.

    The 1.03 version of PTA includes a new command line switch, -R.
   This is for doors (such as KSE) that do not reset properly after
   they've been told the user has dropped carrier.  It will cause
   the entire system to reboot, so your startup-sequence must launch
   the BBS as part of its routine.  To use the reboot toggle, change
   the executable line to read "BBS:Doors/PTA -R K".
   

  Running PTA:  

    1) You cannot access PTA during a local logon.  Only outside callers
      can run PTA.  If you wish to run a door from the console, use
      the supplied file PLoc.  It is run from a CLI prompt with the
      same syntax as PTA (including magic pathnames).  Do not put PLoc
      into your Door.Exts file.. it does not run from the BBS, only
      by itself on a CLI line.

    2) Some Paragon doors require that there be a volume named
      DOORS: assigned in the system.  To take care of this, add the
      line 'Assign DOORS: BBS:Doors' to your startup-sequence.

    3) Other doors than the three listed may or may not run.  That's
      basically what "untested" means.  In general, to install a 
      Paragon door, simply create a directory with the name that
      is suggested in the door's doc file and put all associated files
      inside it.  Add the full path of the executable to the Door.Exts
      file, and try it out.

    4) All doors should be tested with PLoc before allowing users
      to access them.  In most situations, anything that works with
      PLoc will work with PTA.

    5) Disregard any mention of altering a file called Doors.Dat.  This
      is only used on real Paragon systems.  Also, inform your users
      that PTA's text editor does NOT have a problem with typing on
      the first line of a message.  Space Empire prints a warning 
      before starting the text editor about this, but the bug mentioned
      does not exist in my version of the text editor.
