COMVIEW 1.0 written by Paul Grebenc, 06/30/90 using Lattice C V5.02 ----------- The purpose of this program is to allow Amiga users to view graphic pictures that were created by the Commodore 64. COMVIEW supports the two major file formats supported by C64 art programs, the Doodle and Koala formats. To display a Doodle picture file, enter: COMVIEW d filename To display a Koala picture file, enter: COMVIEW k filename About Doodle and Koala files ---------------------------- Doodle picture files have a resolution of 320 x 200 which is divided up into 8 x 8 blocks. Each block can have only two colors, a foreground and a background color, which can be defined to any of the C64's 16 colors. Koala picture files have a resolution of 160 x 200. Each 4 x 8 block can use any 4 colors out of Commodore's 16 color palette. If you are searching through a Commodore BBS looking for pictures to download and view, the standard filename format for Doodle pictures is "ddfilename". Koala picture files have a more complicated filename format, consisting of a special character not available on the Amiga. However, because of this, most Koala files are not uploaded with the name in this format, and are usually named something like this, "pic filename". Another way to tell a Doodle file from a Koala file is by the file size. Doodle files will always be 9,218 bytes long, while Koala files will always be 10,003 bytes long.
