Hi Folks,

The TWEnglish directory here is a COMPLETE replacement sample set for
the mighty cult Team 17 game Worms. Some people have set out to create
replacement sets in the past and a couple of archives are actually on
Team 17s WWW Internet site; the problem is that they are just a small
fraction of samples. However, they were darned good so thanks go to
Jon Guidry (guidryjd@occ-uky.campus.mci.net) for the Beavis and
Butthead samples and to Richard Smith (rxs@cs.nottingham.ac.uk) for
the Bottom samples.

This here sample set took along time to put together. Raping PD CDs,
sampling Dance sample CDs, recording our own cheesy ones on occasion
and a couple of beuties sent to me from the Internet IRC channel
#Amiga. Thanks guys, it's appreciated.

Some of the interesting things about the samples you wouldn't
otherwise know;

The sheep sample is used on my system as a bell and constantly drives
the Deputy Editor, Lisa Collins, mad. This is probably why I use it.
3:-) It's definately the best Sheep sample around and out of all of
the samples, it should DEFINATELY be used in future official Worms
versions. :-)

The minigun was hard to replace. It was actually pretty darn good
already. I was content to just replace with a nice fat A10 chain gun
sample but Alan Dykes (The Editor) wasn't content. He said, now what
kind of minigun doesn't have an electric whine? Fair enough. So be
told that the whine is actually our esteemed Editor's stretched vocals
mixed in with former sample. Well now you know.

Originally the whole team recorded a collection of ooffs and oowws
but when I found I had 3 different versions of Homer Simpson's amusing
'Dow!' sample, it had to be done. The Owws are still us and yes, the
highly amusing flatulant Worm sample is Alan Dykes blowing a
Raspberry, no really.

Sorry to have had to inflict my rather crummy voice on everyone but
no-one else was game for it. So the First Blood, Revenge and crying
bit when a Worm is kicked off the screen are prime candidates for
replacement still. Though the revenge sample isn't, perhaps, too foul.

The blowtorch, teleport and twang samples are also my vocals though
rather well disguised with some Audio Master effects to cover them up.

In case it wasn't obvious, the way this sample set needs to be
installed in Worms is quite simple. Just replace all the files on your
Worms floppies (copies obviously and even more obviously legal one's
at that - Or we'll break your legs - Ed ) in the TWEnglish directory
with all the ones on this CD in the TWEnglish directory next to this
readme. Hard drive users might just like to rename their old drawer
and simply drag this drawer into your Worms directory.

Enjoy, I know it certainly makes a massive difference to the game
with even more laughter echoing from our offices, if that's possible.

If anyone else makes any replacement samples, custom levels etc then
please oh PLEASE pop them in the post to us or UU/MIME Encode them to
worms-submit@cu-amiga.demon.co.uk. We'll credit you and do another
special Worms collection on the games floppy sometime.
