HKFonts Volume 6 © 1993, 1994 Heikki Kantola Introduction ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After some waiting, I've managed to create yet another nice set of fonts. Yes, these are still bitmap fonts as I haven't yet found the benefactor (yes, it can be YOU right there looking at the monitor! :)) to buy me TypeSmith/Font Designer (or atleast donate sum of money large enough to afford vector font editor). Anyway these babes are are still made with ye olde FED from Extras1.3 disk as I haven't even found better bitmap font editor (If somebody could turn FED into modern form with standard file (/font) requester I would appericiate that a lot). And no, don't mention WBFED to me, I hate to change pen colour to erase pixels and to hunt down disappeared windows. Contents ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This archives includes following fonts: Analog Quill (8x8,9x8) 9pt version is my current terminal font for NäpsäTerms. Angband (11x8) A try to make thin "Moria" (8x8, avialable in HKFonts vol.1) in 11pt size... Boring (8x8) No thrills here. Basic 8x8 font. Granite (11x7) High and thin sans serif. Timmer asked something like that, but wasn't totally satisfied with this, although 3V liked... Psycho (8x8) If "Boring" looked boring, check this! Minimalized version of CG font "Andromeda" (or was it originally Type1?) I found somewhere. Use at your own risk Quill (16x8) Big, quill-written looking font. ThinShark (16pt proportional) 3V had bombarded me with requests to do bigger "Shark" (HKFonts 4 and 5) and finally I tried to do one. This is the result. Zen (8x8) As several people had requested me to do a 8x8 font resembling Martin Huhenlother's nice MagicWB font XEN I made this. Not exactly wider XEN, but a new nice looking sans serif in 8x8. Installation ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ I'm sorry that I haven't provided you with nice Installer-script, but I suppose everybody knows how to copy couple files from place A to place B. In case of these fonts, place A is the place, where you unpacked this archive and place B is your FONTS: dir. Legal mumbo jumbo ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ These fonts are strictly GIFTWARE! This means you may freely distribute them via Internet/Usenet, software libraries such as Fred Fish's, BBSs and other similar ways where nothing or only substancial fee for media, copying and/or p&p is charged. They may not be included in any magazine cover disk or freeware/PD/shareware/commercial product without author's permission (If you're going to gain profit by using these fonts, I want my share!). Then if you decide to use these fonts regularly, you must send a gift (money, delicacy, programs (I would like to see some shareware authors to accept this as a fee ;)), A4000Ts...) to the author. Greetings, thanks and other misc stuff ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ First big thanks to Viljo "3V" Viitanen for lending his A1200 system, which spent nice Xmas holiday at my place and was the other system used to design these fonts in addition of my poor old A500 at Kuusankoski. Final touches was made on my A3000/16MHz at Helsinki. Next I must send warm hello to Timothy "Timmer" Aston for writing nice text editor called Digital Quill, which I used to write this text as I happen to be betatesting it. I'm sorry to not be able to provide you with the time of final commercial/shareware release. And as I happen to be betatesting another great prog, X-Comm, I want send my greetings to mates downunder, X-Comm dev team: Edward "Xed" Lawford, Mike "Dense" Lorant and Will "MoonShot" Waring, who are likely trying to make version 1.2 ready for release in near(?) future (or then just wasting time on MUDding or something else ;)). And then hellos to all nice chaps at IRC channel #Amiga (I'm not writing incomplete name list like Guardian... ;)) and little cursing to them too for not sending me anything yet (only Neil McRae has promised to send a bottle of Scotch some day...) Special mega greetings to Martin Huhenlother for designing the wonderful MagicWB! Yes, icon of this document is by him. Author ¯¯¯¯¯¯ Is Heikki Kantola, Amiga advocate, computer linguistics student at the University of Helsinki, author of HK Fonts vol.1-6, PC loather, idler extraordinaire, IRC addict (Hezu@#Amiga), Mac basher, Unix/X fan and what else? You can contact me preferably via E-Mail: Heikki.Kantola@Helsinki.FI Or then if you've no access to 'Net (poor you! :-P) or you're sending me gift (if you like & use my font, I strongly encourage you!), you can send good old snail mail to: Heikki Kantola (during University terms:) (holidays:) Sakarinkatu 3 A 17 Lauttakatu 15 FIN-00500 Helsinki FIN-45700 Kuusankoski Finland And if you've access to IRC, you might spot among the crowd of #Amiga person nicknamed Hezu, which happens to be me. ;) I wish welcome all comments, praises, critics, gifts, offers to make new fonts etc... Last words ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Don't forget to send me gift if you want me to continue making fonts for public or I might become as sad as certain Jim Young (aka U4ia of MDMA) who has even asked FTP sites to remove his mods... And as you can see no AmigaGuide document this time. =)
