As you may have read by now, Version 6.50 of the SAS/C(r) Development System for AmigaDOS will be released next month. We have been receiving lots of requests for information on the product, and many people are posting to the nets asking for information. Hopefully, this posting will answer your questions about sales issues; I'll do another one for technical issues. WHAT'S INCLUDED? Version 6.50 will include C++. The C++ conforms to the ANSI C++ committee's working draft, minus exception handling and templates. We intend to add the missing pieces and continue to implement the decisions of the ANSI committee in the future. An iostream class library and a complex number class library will be shipped with the system. We would like to encapsulate the Amiga system libraries in the future, and are looking into it now for a future release. The C development system will also be upgraded in 6.50. Highlights include support for fonts in all utilities, a new profiler, a new instruction scheduler, and better math coprocessor code. I'll post a more detailed list of technical features seperately. WHEN WILL I GET AN UPGRADE NOTICE? We haven't mailed upgrade notices for Version 6.50 yet, but I'll announce it here shortly after we do. WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE? Version 6.50 will ship next month (November 1993). You can get ordering information in the U.S. by contacting SAS Institute's Book Sales department at the address below. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
