FoXGate 1.7 By Dave Naylor - Frost Free Amiga BBS - Fidonet 2:250/366.0 ========================= ==================== =================== This utility evolved out of a need to send and receive Fidonet type mail via E-Mail. It uses Putmail, SMTPpost or Sendmail to gate from your Fido system to remote Inet Sites. It also requires the following libraries :- rexxsupport rexxtricks.library (Included) Installation ------------ Ensure that FoXGate, Rename and Delete are in your path. (C: Bin: etc) Edit the example FoXGate.cfg to suit your mail links and paths. Place FoXGate.cfg in S: Ensure rexxsupport and rexxtricks libraries are in Libs: Use --- FoXGate [IN] [OUT] or no args. Inbound ------- FoXGate IN will look in FoXGate.cfg for inbound EMails for a configured user. DONT use your normal EMail user name as after process EMails are deleted and you will lose mail. For instance my Email user name is "knocker" but gated mail comes to and from "zeus". If you cannot allocate multiple user names you cannot use FoXGate IN. Outbound -------- FoXGate OUT will look in FoXGate.cfg for Node or point addresses and then look for corresponding mail bundles in Mail:Outbound/ Nodes/Points must be set as NORMAL and therefore have .FLO files in Mail:Outbound/ Any mail found will be encoded and sent to the recipients EMail address via Putmail, Sendmail or SMTPpost as configured in FoXGate.Cfg. The mail will be timestamped and given the configured Subject and From Name as configured in FoXGate.cfg. No Arguments ------------ FoXGate with no arguments will run both options. History ------- ** Version 1.0-1.2 Never released :) ** Version 1.3 First public release ** Version 1.4 Fixed problem with none mail files, like .tics and File Attaches. Now uses ( and needs) rexxdossupport.library. ** Version 1.5 Non public release ** Version 1.6 Now uses rexxtricks.library to encode/decode Now uses Sendmail instead of having to rely on SMTPpost calling sendmail Now Inbound and Outbound are configurable in the cfg There is also a sister utility for use with YAM (YaMGate.lha, on Aminet) FoXGate is probably better for nodes and IMHO YaMGate for points although both do basically the same job. ** Version 1.6a Added some info in the shell telling you what it's doing Tidied up the UUDecoding. It's now a lot cleaner. ** Version 1.7 Removed the need for rexxdossupport.library. Added Local Logging and FoXGate informs you of what it's doing as it does it. The user can now use SMTPpost, Sendmail or PutMail for actually sending the mail. Credits ------- The idea was inspired by Mat Bettinsons Shovel-Gate, Paolo Carotenutos FidoE-Mail and EMailGate by Nick Loman.. If you use this thing, tell me about it!
