AVAILABLE POSTSCRIPT TYPE 1 FONTS In the various readmes in the archives were either references to other fonts "out there" on the net, or actual listings of fonts that people had for sale. The details are available in the original readmes, but I have tried to make things a bit simpler by creating this file. It merely lists the "bare bones" information of the fonts available that are not on this AT1 Font set and should you wish to pursue a purchase (rather than a download) I would like to suggest that you read the .readmes in the archives in their entirety. These listings are only edited versions of the originals. Note that these fonts are likely ONLY available in MS-DOS or MAC format, not Amiga. You will need .PFB font files -AT THE VERY LEAST- in order to use these fonts with PageStream, so make sure you know what you are getting for your money. PageStream also -REQUIRES- a .AFM file, but you can create these from any .PFB file if you have access to TypeSmith for the Amiga, which is really easy to use for converting such things. It's even easier if the .AFM file is included with your purchase, but if not, there is an option. :) Many of these have been uploaded to various BBS's and online services that I do not have access to. If you come across them, please try to upload them to an AMINET site on Internet. One of them is amiga.physik.unizh.ch. Please be sure it is an .lzh or .lha archive, or it will not be accepted on the site. Thank you! And now the listings of available fonts... ============================================================================== (See the COLISEO.README for more details) The following are available from: Thomas E. Harvey 4214 Vasconia St. Tampa, FL 33629 WHAT DO YOU GET? All 14 fonts including x.WFN, x.PFB, x.PFM, x.AFM files. HOW MUCH? You can have all 14 fonts for $10 plus $2 shipping and handling. Disk cost is included with your choice of 5 1/4 or 3 1/2, no extra charge. Canadians please send $12 + $2 s&h. For all my long-lost cousins in the British Isles, send £6 + £1 s&h in some form which my bank will smile at. FONT DESCRIPTIONS... Descriptions indicate whether fonts contain upper case, lower case or both. All fonts include numerals and basic punctuation. Some include punctuation beyond the basic set. All include currency characters for dollars and British Pounds. Most include the cents character also. BEESWAX (UC) A fat, fun face similar to a font called "Bees Knees" which appeared in "u&lc" magazine. BROADBAY (UC) Similar to a font called "Binner." On first look this font appears much like Broadway (though the similar name is just coincidence). It's more elegant than its well-known cousin, but also stronger; it could be used where Broadway might not be hefty enough. BULGE (UC & LC) Serif or non-serif? The characters of this font appear created with painter's horse-hair brush strokes, with one or two strokes per letter. Similar to a press-type font called "Croissant." Amazingly, considering the design of the font, it works for text set as small as 11-point. CAIRO (UC & LC) (Bonus Font) Bold serif condensed font, similar to "Egyptian Bold Condensed." Excellent for headlines; text is legible, but gets too "solid" below about 18-point. COLISEO (which is in this AT1 Font set) COMARO (which is in this AT1 Font set) DEBORAH (UC & LC) A bold, non-serif font similar to "Compacta Black." Use for headlines or logo design; text setting might be too strong. GAEL (UC) Calligraphic font similar to "American Uncial." The all-upper case font looks like lower case. GRAMMAR (UC) This font is similar to "Microgramma Bold Extended." A very wide font, it's legible as small as about 14-point. INSCRUTA (UC) A very blocky, minimalist font. The only commercial font that's at all similar might be one called "Baby Teeth." JOELOUIS (UC & LC) A non-serif font made with consistent-width stroking. Could be used for text set as small as 14-point. Similar to a font called "Dempsey." MOTTEK (UC & LC) A bold, stark font with similarities to Comaro, but more readible. Also very similar to a commercial font called "Motter Tektura." RHINOFON (UC) A semi-serif bold font similar to a commercial font called "Elefont." TALLDECO (UC) A very art-deco-ish headline font, similar to a font that appeared recently in "u&lc" magazine called "Anna." Very tall and condensed, the slender charactersinclude a nearly full set of alternate upper case (using the lower case keys). ============================================================================== (See the JUDAS.README for more details) The following are available from: LORVAD (Formerly Printers Devil) P.O. Box 1828 Easton, Md 21601 ALBATROSS Contains all the regular alphanumeric characters. Albatross is a text body font with a moderately short x-height. The relative point size is a bit small (i.e. 14 point is closer to what most people would consider 12 point). It contains all the regular characters and many special characters. DEDALUS Contains all the regular alphanumeric characters OSWALD GREY A type 3 font, may only be used on PostScript printers. It has an 80% grey fill with a black border. Looks great in small or large sizes. I'd recommend using Oswald Grey at 24 points or larger. Oswald Grey is difficult to read on the screen. Do your composing in Oswald Black (it has the same character size and spacing) then change the font to Oswald Grey before printing. INKABOD InkaBod is based on the bitmapped font Nordic. On the LaserWriter it looks great at 14 points and above. On the ImageWriter, try it at 18 points and larger. Designed without any curves. With one or two exceptions all angles are multiples of 45 degrees. Contains all the regular alphanumeric characters and an assortment of special characters. Hinted. Over 100 kerning pairs may be defined. ============================================================================== (See the BONEBLACK.README for more information) The following are available from: Peter Dako Casual Casual 698a Queen Street West Toronto, Ontario, Canada M6J 1E7 BONE BLACK ITALIC BONE WHITE PDCHAILLOT MAKOTO Based on Metropolis. They come in a variety of styles and are illustrated below. (Note: As time goes by, I changes in the typefaces included in this offer.) Please note that these twenty five typefaces are not public domain or shareware. You may NOT distribute them in any way. (You may wonder about this offer of twenty five faces for $25.00.) Watch for my other shareware offerings: ChooChoo, ZirkleOne, RedLetter, and Zarrow. Notice that the 25 typefaces illustrated below are not the same as those illustrated in the documentation for ChooChoo, ZirkleOne, or RedLetter. They offer 25 typefaces for $25, but it is a different set of typefaces. The reason the offer above is made for $26 is to reduce my confusion if you order. [The illustrations mentioned require some program that the AMIGA does not have. Or at least, *I* don't have whatever it is... ;<) ==============================================================================
