This  program is a result of 30 years as a keen photographer. 
For many of those years I belonged to various camera clubs and
spent a lot of time lecturing and judging at other clubs in the
area.

As a result,  I have produced a number of photographic programs
as part of my growing interest in computing.  One of my most
successful lectures was one called `A DIFFERENT APPROACH`.

All of my experiences had taught me that the average 
photographer and/or  club member tended to produce very 
stereotyped  pictures. Sunsets  and swans !  I tried all sorts of
ideas to come  up  with 'different` pictures, and sometimes I
succeeded !

I  did find that,  whilst some experiment was not  favorably
received  in the club world,  it often attracted far  more 
interest from  the general public in exhibitions than did the
more  conventional work.

Often,  though not always, the conventional work won the club
trophies,  but NOT the prizes in outside competitions.  Think 
of it yourself.  If a judge on a magazine competition has 1000 
pictures to  judge,  then he/she will probably be able to throw
700 to  800 out on poor quality - that is a fact !!!!

Of the remaining 200 or so,  out go all of the regular subjects 
- sunsets and swans - leaving possibly 50 or so pictures to
actually judge.

This  basic fact is documented in at least one  photographic 
text book.



THIS PROGRAM....


This program attempts to duplicate the lecture.  It is 
impossible to emulate the audience participation, which I always
tried to encourage, but the rest is there.

Operation  is simple.  Run the program from it`s icon and a 
title screen will appear.  This gives access to each part of the
lecture as a separate unit, should you ever want to refer
directly,  or to the whole lecture in order.  It is possible to
return to the title screen at the end of any section by pressing
`ESC` at the point where the program asks for disk 1 or 2.

Have a look at the pictures and read the associated text.  If 
you have two drives,  have one disk in each and then no disk 
swapping is necessary,  otherwise the program will ask for disks
as  necessary.  Use  the  pictures  and ideas as  a  prompt  for 
your  own projects.  Many  methods used here can be adapted to 
most modern cameras, from fairly basic compacts to top end SLR`s.

Text  files can be printed out from within the program  by 
having your  printer switched on with paper in place,  then
pressing  `X` whenever the prompt appears at the bottom of the
screen.

The pictures are on the two disks in the form of medium res IFF
brushes. They are all copyright of the author. Should you wish to
use any for none commercial reasons, then you may do so by
licence of the purchase of this disk.

The  program  is  written in AMOS,  which does  nothing  for 
your Amiga`s  multitasking  abilities - but you are  unlikely  to
need multitasking whilst running this program. 

To exit the program, press 'LEFT AMIGA' and 'A' together.


THE AUTHOR....

Very briefly indeed - I learnt my photography on a formal basis
as part of my industrial and academic training.  Industrial
photography with cameras up to 5X4 inch,  and technical
photography in the laboratory were a part of the training,  as
was processing the results.

This made me quality conscious,  and I still believe that 
QUALITY MATTERS !

I  had 20 years in camera clubs and as a judge and lecturer. 
Time has  now tended to stop that,  but I still follow my 
`hobby`  and have  to  tell  the tax man as I now sell work  to 
magazines  and through picture libraries.  A different approach
to a common  subject often means more sales !

I have produced a number of other photographic related programs.
Some are older than others and most are constantly being updated
as I learn how to present them in a more suitable way. Should you
