Hmm!, TurboCat, what's this all about,you may ask?. Well, TurboCat is a simple program written to
make cataloguing your disk collection easier. I wrestled with the problem of how to create a list
of all my disks without having to type all of the entries in manually.

   TurboCat was written to make my life easier. It couldn't be simpler, all you do after the program
has loaded is insert your entire collection of disks into drive DF0:, (no....not all at once!), and
the program does the rest. It will recognise the volume name of the disk and insert it into the list.
A beep sound will be made to provide audible confirmation that the volume name has been added to the
list. Your disk volume name will have been added to the list with a unique number appended to it to
enable you to quickly trace a disk in your collection, with this program you can log volume names and
disk contents which is configurable in a number of ways, see below.
   Once you are happy with your list, click on the save button and your list will be saved to the
Turbocat Disk into a file called "listfile".

   Notes:

         The disk to be catalogued must be placed into drive DF0:, since the program uses a 'get
logical device name' command to establish the volume name of the disk, at the moment this places
the logical devices into a list in order of boot priority, therefore, since DF0: usually has the 
highest boot priority DF0: is always recognised as the place where the logical volume name may be
extracted from. If you use any other drive, (ie with a bootpri lower than DF0:), the program will
not work properly.

   As described in the "readmeFirst" file the program runs best in a 4 colour Workbench scheme
the program should run quite happily in a scheme with more colours than this, which it does, however
for some reson the compiler forces it to open up it's own screen in a greater than 4 colour scheme,
this is something that I will get sorted out, because it is a pest for all you MagicWB people. 
Any way to get around this, just boot from this disk

         When the program is first run the list window will be empty, since 'listfile' at this point
will be empty, (unless you have already used the program and have created a list), take out the
program disk and insert the first disk that you wish to log, the entry will appear briefly in the
status window, and then the disk's volume name will appear in the list window. Continue with this
routine until you have logged all your disks or have got fed-up. Should you wish to delete an entry
click on the delete button when you will be presented with a "delete window", select the item you
wish to delete using the mouse then press "delete now" in order to proceed with delete, press cancel
or the closebutton if you change your mind. You will now be returned to the main window and the item
you selected will have been deleted along with any contents assigned to that title, (if logged).


Defaults on first loading:

The program defaults to the following:

Logging OFF

(No logging takes place until you select either "all modes on", the button, or "logging
on" via the toolbar.)

Title Only

(The program will only log the title of the disk, not the comtents, unless you select
"title & Contents" via the toolbar.)

Files Only

(The program will, when "logging on", (toolbar) or "all modes on", (button) log only the FILES
present in the root directory of the disk which has been inserted.

   The program will not be able to log the boot disk "TurboCat", unless it's title has been altered.

Searching:

   The program has a basic search function which should enable you to find either the title or the
number that you seek. Click on "search", a tone will sound and you will see that the search field,
which was until now, disabled, has been enabled. Click on this field and type in the name you are
looking for. The string may be upper or lowercase and part of a name, in order for it to be located.
   If it does exist you will be passed to another window where the "found" string will be shown to
you, "Continue" allows you to look for other items further on in the record witch match your search
string.

Viewing The contents of a record:

   To do this, double click on the title you are interested in and it will be displayed in the right
hand "volume contents" list. (If you have previously carried out logging, then before this occurs the
program will request that you insert volume "TurboCat" in order to do a save of all new items
currently held in RAM. If you logged quite a number of items, then there will be some delay while
this is performed.)
 Where no contents were logged, ie using "title only" mode, the right hand "volume Contents" list
will display:-  "No Items Logged".

Non-Dos Disks:

   Although the program is unable to read NDos disks, if one of these is detected in the drive you
will be asked if you wish to manually type in the Title yourself, (for game disks etc), to do this
just click in the field, type in the title, ie "dark moon 1", and press return, the title will be
added to the list. Obviously no contents will be logged.


TurboView!:

TurboView! is included as a fast viewer which allows the same searching as TurboCat! but with none
of the bells and whistles, (you cannot add disks to the list with TurboView!)





   All suggestions for improvement will be gratefully received, in fact suggestions would be welcomed
along with the shareware fee, which is a Fiver, for those people who may be interested. If you
send the fee you will receive an updated version which is not limited to only 200 records.

   Any bugs found will be gratefully received and sorted as soon as I can figure them out.
