CHESSPUZZLES INSTRUCTIONS You firstly select a level of difficulty. To begin a series of puzzles, select one of the main menu items. The first position will start after you have made your selection. You can select a different time limit. When your time is up, the puzzles end, regardless of whether you have finished the questions or not. You can choose a time limit that matches a different competition time limit. In each position, the player to move will be displayed in the top left corner. The player to move always moves up the board. You are to find the best move in that position. An exception is the DRAW section, in which you try and find the move that leads to a draw, regardless of whether it is the best move or not. After you have decided upon your move, click the left mouse button while the mouse pointer is over the piece you want to move. Then press the left mouse button on the square you want the piece to move to. If your answer was correct, the word CORRECT will be displayed and you will score one point, else you will not score. Regardless of whether you are correct or not, the right move will be played on the board. After you have attempted every question in a section, or your time runs out (which ever happens first) you will be given an approximate performance rating for that section. Your score will be recorded in the Hall of Fame, if it exceeds the current high score for that section, and be saved to disk along with the date. This will keep a record of what sections you have attempted and give you a target to beat in each section. After this, the program will return to the main menu. If you wish to return to the main menu at any stage, just select NEW from the pull-down menu. If you wish to leave the program at any stage, just select QUIT from the pull-down menu.
