ZONE CREATOR 1.0 WRITTEN IN AMOS 1.36 BY PETER HERRON FEBRUARY 1995 AMOS IS COPYRIGHT MANDARIN/EUROPRESS SOFTWARE AMOS WAS WRITTEN BY FRANCOIS LIONET THIS PROGRAM ALSO USES CRAFT INSTRUCTIONS CRAFT IS COPYRIGHT BLACK LEGEND/SOLARIS SOFTWARE CRAFT WAS WRITTEN BY HANNU RUMMUKAINEN THIS PROGRAM IS FREEWARE.. CONTENTS. 1. WHAT'S IT FOR 2. USAGE 3. ADDRESS 4. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 1. WHAT'S IT FOR This program is for AMOS users to save them a bit of typing. It is a FULLY Automatic zone detection program. What that means is that you give it the name of an iff picture that you want screen zones defined and it will write all of the definitions to a file for you to MERGE them as ASCII in your AMOS programs. Note.. This program is of more use to AMOS utility programmers than to AMOS games programmers. 2.USAGE THIS PROGRAM IS CLI ONLY SO DO NOT TRY TO RUN IT FROM WORKBENCH IT WILL ALMOST DEFINITELY CRASH YOUR AMIGA.. To try out this program there is an IFF file(or there should be) that comes with this program, if there isnt then i will go through what you need to do a little later on. but for now.. At the shell/cli type cd zonecreator:zonecreator1_0/ [Return] Then type zc examplescreen.iff -dram:exampleoutput.asc What the above line means zc = The name of the program(short for ZONE CREATOR) zonecreator:examplescreen.iff = The path of the iff file -dram:exampleoutput.asc = The path where you want to store the output file Note. The -d part HAS to be included because this is how the program looks for the path name of the output file. If its not included you will have wasted your time and probably cause the program to bug out. If the file is not there, Design a screen which you want zones on(dpaint, etc) and where you decide to put your zones draw boxes around the areas in the LAST colour in your palette. And then outline the box with a 1 pixel border in COLOUR 0, remember to save your original screen to disk before you draw the new boxes, then save this picture off as a new file. Now go to the shell/cli and type zc yournewfilepath -doutputpath Where the above line says yournewfilepath type the name of the disk and the filename of your picture. Where it says -doutputpath you type -d and then the name of the disk and the filename where you would like to store the ascii file. TIP. Try to remember to add .asc to the output filename as this will save you a lot of hassle when you come to merge them into your own programs. To see how its working just press AMIGA-A and you will see the screen with your picture on it. the boxes you drew will be dissappearing. the program needs to read the picture twice, once to reserve memory for the output data and once to put the data in to memory then onto disk. this may take a little time but the program does multitask and also saves you a hell of a lot of time typing the numbers in. When the program has finished a requester will pop up telling you how many zones it has found, This should be the number you wanted Just click on Ok in the requester and the program will end and your ASCII file will be where you wanted it on disk. Another Tip. It would probably be best to put this program in the C/ drawer on your Paint program disk i.e dpaint Now when you want to use it with a screen you have just designed you can save the iff file to RAM: to save you disk space, then when it has finished you just delete the unwanted file. 3.ADDRESS my address is, PETER HERRON 121 FERRYBOAT LANE HYLTON CASTLE SUNDERLAND SR5 3RW Tel No. (0191) 5484095 4.SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS if you recieve this program and notice that your type of system setup is not mentioned below but the program does work on your system please add it to the list. the program should work on any machine but has not been tested (i don`t know that many AMIGA users) please check the list below..
