S4 P1 EP ¥2¤3 ROLEPLAYING GAMES¥1¤1 Many of you have probably heard of the games called ¤2roleplaying games¤1. But I'm quite sure that not everbody of you have played one of them. That's why I'm writing this article. ¤6You have to forget everything you have learned about ordinary games. A roleplaying game is not a game in the usual meaning. You can spend an evening, a whole night or even days trying to experience a serie of adventures. You can compare the roleplaying game with an SF-film or a fantasy-film (depends on which game you are playing). The players are the actors and the Game Master controls all the other characters and the intrigues. The purpose of the game is not to win/lose (lose??). ¤1It is to ð experience the exciting feeling of making noble achievements. Your character is a great hero not a lousy farmer! When you step into the world of adventures you take a different person's characteristics and gifts. The character is not you, it is another person, as well as you know the differences between the actor and the character he pretends to be. ¤6Your character has some characteristics you determine before you begin to play. Those are described in numbers. The numbers tell us how strong, how intelligent and so on your character is. Those numbers are not unchangeable; during the time you're playing your character achieve experience and knowledge in the most different areas. ¤1You have to decide how your character Ð is going to act and react near other people. If you have decided to play a bumptious and enterprising character it is most entertaining if you act that way (in most games you gain some experience or someting if your good at it). ¥2¤9 THE GAMEMASTER¥1¤1 ¤6The Gamemaster is the most important person in the game. He (or she) is the one who creates the world where the charaters live. He determines what the world looks like, who live there, what they do, and if they like (love?) the characters. He also makes the situations the characters have to confront. ¤1The Gamemaster creates the world, but there are always rules. As soon as a character tries to do something there ð is a rule (if there is not, the Gamemaster pretend that there is a rule and make his own). Imagine that a character tries to pick a locked door. Will he make it??? That depends on one of his skills, one of his characteristics, how complicated the lock is and a roll with one of the strange dices. The Gamemaster have to do this very quick, otherwise the game will stop and there won't be any action. So now you might understand why the Gamemaster is so important. The whole experience depends on him!! ¥2¤9COOPERATION OR NOT¥1¤1 ¤6When you play roleplaying games you do it together and help each other to achieve the grand price! (I don't know what your's is. There are many; wealth, fame and immortality for Ð example) To reach your goal! When you together let your imagination flow you may manage to create an exciting story without equal. Because of that nobody knows what is going to happen. ¤1In most ordinary games the goal is to win, but in a roleplaying game you fight against the evil hordes. You have to cooperate if you are going to make it in a battle with a band of highwaymen. To lose is to lose your money or your life. To win is maybe to make it through the caves of the goblins or save a princess from the evil darkarchmage (necromancer perhaps??)... You may choose your own way of getting to your goal. You can take the hard way with more danger or the easier way on which you must use elegance to become famous! ¤6The danger is an important part of ð roleplaying. Without it the game would be as grey and dull as ours. If your character dies (so what?) you only have to create a new one and avoid the danger your previous character enchountered. ¥2¤9 COMPUTER GAMES¥1¤1 ¤1Nowadays there have come many computer roleplaying games. I am talking about both the games like Dungeon Master and those like Champions of Krynn and Pools of Darkness... Those are funny. I have played most of them myself, but they can never give you the experience a ordinary Roleplaying Game can give you. Many of the computer games are still worth trying, for example ¤6EYE OF THE BEHOLDER¤1(¤61 & 2¤1), ¤6BLACK CRYPT¤1, the ¤6MIGHT AND MAGIC¤1 series and the trilogy ¤6AMBERSTAR¤1 (especially if you like Ð playing games on your computer and do not use it as an advanced typewriter). ¤9JUST GO TO YOUR LOCAL COMPUTER OR ROLEPLAYING GAMES SHOP AND BUY ONE!!!! Ð S3 P1 EP ¥2¤9 GENESIS - THE WAY WE WALK¥1¤1 Released: ¤61992¤1 Overall rating: ¤679.5%¤1 Number of songs: ¤611¤1 Best songs: ¤6I Can't Dance 95% Invisible Touch 90% Land Of Confusion 90% ¤1Between March and September 1991 Genesis recorded their latest studioalbum, "We Can't Dance". The album was quite a success and so was the "We Can't Dance Tour" in 1992, f.e. was Genesis in USA together with Grateful Dead the band with the biggest audience. When a band has done a successfull tour they often make a live livealbum, and so did Genesis. Their "The Way We Walk", ð ¤1released in late 1992, is a collection of the best songs played during the tour. The 11 songs included are: ¤61. LAND OF CONFUSION 5:16 90% ¤1Original on "Invisible Touch" (1986). One of the best songs Genesis has ever made if you ask me. A up-tempo song with good rhythm and good riffs. A perfect way to turn on the audience. ¤62. NO SON OF MINE 7:05 80% ¤1Original on "We Can't Dance" (1991). A slower song which was a big hit when it was originally released. When you listen to it it's easy to get a kind of nostalgic feeling. ¤63. JESUS HE KNOWS ME 5:23 85% ¤1Original on "We Can't Dance (1991). Not at all as religious as the title sounds. It's about the TV-priests, appearing every sunday in America, Ð ¤1asking people to give and give and give... and then some of the priests put all the money in their own pockets... ¤6 4. THROWING IT ALL AWAY 6:01 65% ¤1Original on "Invisible Touch" (1986). The beginning is good, so is the livefeeling but then it's getting to slow for me. ¤6 5. I CAN'T DANCE 6:54 95% ¤1Original on "We Can't Dance" (1991). Without a question the highlight of the record, and also a hit when it was originally released. It makes you think of sunny beaches far, far away... Good heavy riffs and rhythm and a good live feeling. ¤6 6. MAMA 6:50 70% ¤1Original on "Genesis 1983". Reminds me about "No Son Of Mine" when it ð ¤1comes to the nostalgic feeling but it is not really as good. ¤6 7. HOLD ON MY HEART 5:40 60% ¤1Original on "We Can't Dance (1991). One of the singels released from "We Can't Dance", but I find it hard to like it - it's simply to slow. Don't turn this on if you're feeling tired 'cause you'll fall into sleep in a few seconds. ¤6 8. THAT'S ALL 4:58 85% ¤1Original on "Genesis" (1983). Good livefeeling and what can I say...it's just a good song performed by a good band. ¤6 9. IN TOO DEEP 5:36 75% ¤1Original on "Invisible Touch" (1986). A rather slow song, which in spite of the fact that it's slow is quite good. As usual is Phil Collins singing very Ð ¤1well. ¤610. TONIGHT, TONIGHT, TONIGHT 3:35 80% ¤1Original on "Invisible Touch" (1986). A song that's fitting in very well on a concert, and that's why it's included here. Good livefeeling. ¤611. INVISIBLE TOUCH 5:41 90% ¤1Original on "Invisible Touch" (1986). A perfect way to end a perfect record. Pretty fast, and when you've listened to it you're feeling much more positive than you did before. This song is without a doubt one of the best songs Genesis has ever made. I really recommend this record to all Genesis fans and all others for that matter. Ð
