S6 P1 EP ¥2¤9 INTERVIEW WITH ¥1 ¥2 ASTERIX¥1 ¤1This is an interview with Asterix who is a coder in Movement. What has happened to Rebels? Read and find out for yourself. Note: The interview was made two days before Asterix joined Movement. ¤2> Calvin & Xerxes, ¤6- Asterix/Movement ¤2> Hi! Please introduce yourself and give us some facts about your life. (Handle, group, real name, education, hobbies, girlfriends, where you live, etc, etc...) ¤6- Hmmm. Well, I'm Asterix, and I've ð lately been a member of REBELS. That's the group I think I'm currently a member of... My education? Well, Swedish T4 (Three years) and the nine years before that... And about three years of "studies" at the Blue House... BTW, Today people are selling old books and making bride dresses there. Hobbies? I have one... Isn't that enough? Girlfriends? Yes, and especially one... I live in Ume while writing this. Here's where my studies are... ¤2> You were quite famous under the name Alta, why did you change it? ¤6- I really liked it, but a number of reasons forced me to change it: 1) There is a Norwegian village Ð ¤6called 'Alta' 2) In this village there is an elect- ric power company called Alta-Kraft A/S 3) Lots of people fight this company, since it exploits the river Alta, and those people call themselves "Rescue Alta" It is kind of embarrasing to have a name that a group are trying rescue... 4) The name reminds me of a personal thing connected with the murder of the even more famous taxi-driver Dusanka Petren. 5) A milk company in California is called "Alta-Dena Milk" and their milk isn't to be recommended... 6) I saw a Japanese supermarket (or ð was it a disco?) called Alta... 7) I like Asterix. ¤2> Ok, we are convinced! For how long have you been a Rebel? Have you been a member of any other group? ¤6- I've been a rebel since 1989, at the Trollhättan copyparty. Before that I was a member of New Beat. In New Beat we produced a Megademo, which we never released. In the middle of my Rebels career I was in Silents for a while, coz I disagreed a little with M:et. I went back to Rebels cause I disagreed with Marillion... Before we were New Beat, we were ZYX... Before Zyx, I was an AmigaLord, before that "The Crimson Crew" and before that, The Electronic Ð ¤6Force... On the C64 I was in Heptagon, The Bug Legitimated Crackers and Huge. I called myself Pohlman at that time... ¤2> What are your relations to the rest of the Swedish scene? ¤6- I go to parties to meet them, or I write to some of them... Lately I've been a bit lazy with that coz of my studies... ¤2> Is Amiga a popular computer among your friends in school? ¤6- My friend John likes it. Serious, most teachers like it. I had a seminare where a researcher said loudly that the Amiga was the best ð computer in the world, if you didn't go big and had to use the Worst stuff... ¤2> You moved a very long distance from southern Sweden to study in the northern parts. Was it worth it? ¤6- No. I could have stayed in the south, but who cares? You have to look out for polar bears though... ¤2> Oh, you mean those cute creatures! What do you think about Sweden? Is it a good country to live in? ¤6- No. ¤2> Hey! Aren't we a bit negative here?? They say that the Swedish crown is floating nowadays. But do you Ð ¤2really think it's unsinkable? ¤6- Hmm... They've missed a fact there... A very simple experiment shows that a Swedish crown CAN'T float, like, for example, a piece of wood. The crown sinks directly. Mr. Dennis should have experimented a little with his finances before actually going for it. ¤2> Oh, really!? Why aren't you head of of the central bank??? What has actually happened to Rebels Sweden? Who are left? Where are the rest? Rumours said that many members sold their Amigas recently?! ¤6- Gnuerna regerar. Well, interesting. I'm wondering the same thing. It seems so, coz no one tells me anything these days. Nick, M:et and ð Zaxxan sold theirs, Oliver is planning to sell his, and buy a Mac instead. Mogwie "borrows" all equipment, so he don't have to sell anything. Acro is also studying, and he has no time to code. I haven't heard anything about Omega, but I think he's got his computer. Some new members around Stockholm are swapping, I don't know much more. I usually speak to the Finnish guys (Through E-Mail..) and they don't know much either... Organisation is, I am sure, not Rebels anymore.... ¤2> I (Calvin) am doing my military service right now. What do you think about the military service? Have you done your? ¤6- I hate it. Peace love and Ð ¤6understanding! My personal opinion is that you should tear it all down today, if not earlier... I've done my time, and I regret that deeply! I don't think we have a better defense if we have a military pact of our own... ¤2> You're definitely right about that! You are now studying mathematics at the university. Have you had any use for your new mathematic skills when you're coding? ¤6- Yes. Lot's - at least the parts I didn't know about before. I think it's more the other way around. I have had lots of use of my computer skills when reading maths... ¤2> Have you ever contributed to any ð demo competition? If yes, did you earn any money ($$$)? ¤6- Yes, lots of times, and Yes, that was for Blue House, the demo, and I won $250, which I splitted with the musicians (mantronix and blaizer) and the graphician (rizzo) (Not equally...) ¤2> What is the first thing you think of when you hear... Politicians? Money? Phenomena? BBS-intros? Almost fluently speaking foreigners whose greatest goal in life is to make you buy cheap plastic jewelry? ¤6- Politicians: Fidel Castro & Bill Clinton Ð ¤6Money: Want, want... All the code I haven't been paid for... Phenomena: Baltazar!! (The wisest man in egypt/Ben-Hur) BBS-INTROS: Blae. Crap. Foreigners: You mean those Japanese dudes? Too short to be important! ¤2> Any last words to say before we end this interview? ¤6- If you want me anything, contact me through Email on: mnlcst@cs.umu.se The Gnus rules. ¤2> Ok, thanks alot! Ð
