±12------------------------------------ ±33 C O D E R S P E A K S × ±12------------------------------------ × Well as the coder of this new mag I better say a few words concerning the production of ±13'Headline'×. The diskmag code was developed as you might already have noticed after the same concept as RAW. Personally I am in the opinion that the layout of RAW is absolutely the best of all the available diskmags. This mainly because you can scroll the screens softly, while listening to a nice atmospherical song, and only look at quality graphics. Our intensions concerning the 'Headline' production is just the same. The 'Headline' project began about three or four months ago. I think it was me who long had the idea of making such a mag. Around christmas 1992 I just started to program what I would call the program structure - mainly a complete plan over how I would call up the functions in a system. The system itself should also be easy to develope further on in the future. But since we (Bcr & me) were the only ones in our nameless group, the programming had a long delay. Some months later when we got 8 more members in our group (the BEST ones from Atomic) Stone Arts suddenly came to life. Now the mag project was reopened and I had to program the rest of it. But also during the process of coding this mag, I faced a ±12problem× wich gave me a lot of headache (well..almost!). I simply won't bother you with any boring details, but take a good advice and ±12NEVER-EVER USE THE BYTEKILLER PACKER/DEPACKER!× The packer/depacker which is used now is ±12StoneCrackerV2.99×. This packer is probably one of the best packers available for good and fast text packing/depacking. The next issue of Headline will probably feature some small adjustments, like the option to select modules from the menupanel, new menugfx, more fonts, and maybe even an editor tool which makes it a lot easier to write articles and advertisements. I will also make an option to load hi-res 16 color pictures (this I didn't add now because there were NO graphics to use!!). Still I'm a little bit concerned that everybody will understand the Prog. and Mode function, but if you don't please read the help manual! If anybody for any reason wonders how long the ±12modules× are, the ones used in this issue are 135K(125 propacked) and 120K (105 propacked). Maximum module length now can be somewhere about 150-170K I think if it ought to work properly on an A500 wiht 512K fake-fast ram. The modules are packed with prorunner, and ofcourse also played with the prorunner replayroutine. ±13Headline× should work on most Amiga computers and should easily been installed on your ±12harddisk×. Just make sure to use the right assignments. If any serious ±12software bugs× should occure, please let me or the main editor know immediately. Your participation will be highly appreciated. Now enjoy your reading, and be sure to catch our ±12next issue×. Are you interested in dropping me a letter for swapping or anything else just write to the following address: In the next issue I will give you my Internet address. (But I'm usually around the Amiga channels!) ±12COKE/Stone Arts Bekkesvevn. 32 B 2300 Hamar NORWAY× I would also like to send some greets to a few friends & others in the scene. ±12BCR/Stone Arts× : You big APE!
