YellyBeanSongV1.0.DOC ===================== Ah, yes, the Yelly Bean Song. Hehe. It was one of the first where I utilized the trick to use MED's 8 channels to have one channel with the tempo command (The tempo changes between each note!!!) The MUSIC is just 4 channels however, since I find 8 channels to have too low quality. How do you describe Yelly Bean Song? Well, imagine a dude with a slide trombone, a guy with a Marimba, one dude on a Slap bass, and a drummer, having a great time.... nah.... listen to it instead. It is very very very very very slightly inspired from some songs by Yello (hence the name) but the inspiration is almost only in the fact that I have a long drum-only break in the middle.... It is also a bit Jazz-ish in a sense. It is definitely not Techno. It's not reggeae. I can name a lot it's not. But what IS it? You tell ME! The trombone dude likes to play highly chromatic scales too....wonder why? The song has evolved over an extender period of time (Six months) on wich I added on block here, one block there. Is the result enjoyable? You decide! The song has a version number, so it might continue to evolve in the future! It actually has an end too, like most of my songs doo. It's a hangover from my more active synth-composing days: The volume pot on the recording tape machine was too far away too reach from my pile of synths, so I was forced to do real endings to my songs. Only a few things was sequenced back then and I had to play a lot by hand. Since I couldn't reach I couldn't fade out when I recorded them to tape......unless I hired a fader (often my brother :-) * * * * * As usual, a note about the samples. Those ending in .snd are from my old ABC80 with my home built sampler from years and years ago. I no longer have a sampler and find this very good, since it forces me to user old samples in innovative ways (Like the "BigBow" I use in this one). I like to be limited, since it is more of a challange. I enjoy writing 4 channel amiga music more than using all my other synths and drummachines, since using them takes some of the challange out of it. A good example of using old sounds is my song "Having Fun with ST-01", aka "You Say You Love Me?" where all sounds come from the ST-01 disc from the original 1987(?) soundtracker release! Raah!
