Sorry this version has taken so long to send out. I finished it almost a month ago, but kept it for a week or so to iron out any possible bugs. During this week, I forgot I had it, so three more weeks went by before I noticed. Then someone posted on usenet asking where oplay could be found, and I remembered this version sitting in my electronic closet. Rather than posting a pointer to the currently available version, I decided to ftp this one out, and announce it as a reply to the request. This version is supplied primarily as a bug-fix to v1.22. A few days after fixing the bugs in 1.21 and sending the 1.22 patch out, I discovered some potentially machine-fatal problems in 1.22. I hope that no one has encountered these. I forget whether I noticed these bugs as effects or by looking at the source code, but it was in the source that I found the problem with '--' options. This has been fixed, as well. All changes for this version are documented in the file 'CHANGES.doc'. I know that stereo support is sorely needed. I finally found out how to do this (no, I have no manuals and cannot afford them at the moment), but it might be a while before I have time to implement it. Strangely enough, OmniPlay is (by design) better at handling foreign file formats than it is at playing IFF-8SVX. It still plays over 99% of 8SVX files perfectly, but some things like stereo and nested FORMs (LISTs) are not properly handled. I intend to try to fix this later, but I haven't time at present. Guess that's about all that's on my mind now. You probably won't notice any difference between this and v1.22 of OmniPlay (except possibly speed and program size...I've forgotten). But without it, you might one day feel a great deal of pain as your whole machine swirls miserably into the Great Bitbucket that not even the Guru can defeat. Or something like that. --David 13 Dec 1992
