Stop V 1.0 - A Shareware utility by Rudi Cilibrasi Don't you hate it when some programs freeze up or do something strange, and then fail to respond to an exit command, or don't close the window even though you hit the close-gadget? You need not worry any longer! This utility, to be invoked from the CLI, is useful for removing any sort of program that, for some reason or another, cannot be stopped by normal means. It will remove any task from the task-list, thereby freeing any memory that is being used to execute the program, and it will also close any window, freeing the memory used for that display. Note that it is not a good idea to close a task's window before removing the task, because if the task ever recovers from its lock-up, and tries to access the window which was closed, it can cause a Guru Meditation. But it is generally safe to first remove a task, and then close the window which it was using. Once you start the Stop program by typing 'Stop', it will show you a list of all current tasks. Just type the number of the task to remove, and it is gone! Next, the program will ask you if you want to remove any window that the terminated task may have left behind. If you tell it to remove a window, it will give you ten seconds in which to click on the window to be removed. Once ten seconds have elapsed, the activated window will be closed. Be careful not to have a wanted window activated when the time is up! If you like this program, send a donation to: Rudi Cilibrasi 6121 Villa Capri Court Carmichael, CA 95608
