FOT Program by Allen Hastings (c) 1987 Allen Hastings FOT documentation by John Foust (c) 1987 Copyright John Foust. Please leave this notice intact. The Foreign Object Translator program converts Sculpt 3D .scene objects to VideoScape 3D 1.0 and 1.1 format. Colors and textures are converted, too. It only transfers files one-way; it does not convert objects from VideoScape 3D to Sculpt 3D. FOT was written by Allen Hastings, the author of VideoScape 3D. The binary format is a new object format that will be available in VideoScape 3D version 1.1. It is much more compact than the ASCII format, and loads much faster. To use FOT, enter: 1> FOT at the command line. A window will appear. A prompt will ask for a Sculpt 3D file name. Enter the name of a Sculpt 3D .scene file. It will ask for a VideoScape output file name, this will be the name of the converted GEO file. It will ask if you want to write the file in the binary format. Enter 'N' for no, unless you are sure you have the version 1.1 update to VideoScape 3D. VideoScape 3D version 1.0 will not recognize the binary file type, so do not ask for binary files unless you have the newer version. This ARC file contains an example of a file converted from VideoScape 3D format to Sculpt 3D format. This is the Infinite Loop ship from VideoScape 3D. It also contains an IFF image of a Sculpt object converted to VideoScape 3D form, a F-15 plane.
