RawDisk-Handler 1.1 (13.01.94) © 1993, 1994 Christian Stieber ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legal junk: * this program is freely distributable * no warranty, expressed or implied * if something nasty happens: it's your problem * etc... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is it? Ever had the need to access a complete disk like a file? That's what RawDisk-Handler does. RawDisk: will be a file with length "disk-capacity". I don't really know how to explain this; if you need RawDisk:, you'll know anyway. Why is it useful? * Use GNU-tar (in multi-volume mode) to transfer files. * Compress a NDOS-disk using LhA or gzip instead of dms. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- How do you use it? Look at the MountList file (RawDisk). It is set up for the use with MS-DOS-Disks using CrossDOS (part of AmigaOS 2.1 and later). RawDisk should detect HD-disks automatically, using the MountList data only if this fails. However, I don't know whether it works... I would very much appreciate hearing from you whether it works. If you use AmigaOS 2.1 or later: Copy RawDisk to SYS:Storage/DOSDrivers Copy RawDisk-Handler to l: If you use AmigaOS 2.0: Add an entry to devs:MountList, using the file "RawDisk" as a guideline Copy RawDisk-Handler to l: If you use AmigaOS 1.x: Update your operating system, then try again Before using RawDisk:, type "Mount RawDisk:" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author: Christian Stieber Konradstraße 41 D-85055 Ingolstadt (Germany) Currently (Feb. 94) I'm a student and may be reached at: Christian Stieber Seitzstraße 6, Zi. 306 D-80538 München (Germany) EMail: stieber@informatik.tu-muenchen.de
