HKFonts Volume 7 © 1994, 1995 Heikki Kantola Dedicated to the memory of Sami Oinonen Introduction ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Well, this font collection took a while to get released even as I've released few "beta" versions of it to limited number of persons and most of these fonts were already made quite some time ago (read: spring 94). And I've to still repeat the following mantra: "Yes, these are still bitmap fonts as I haven't yet found the benefactor (yes, it can be YOU right there looking at the monitor! :)) to buy me TypeSmith (or atleast donate sum of money large enough to afford vector font editor). Anyway these babes are are still made with ye olde FED from Extras1.3 disk as I haven't even found better bitmap font editor (If somebody could turn FED into modern form with standard file(/font) requester I would appericiate that a lot). And no, don't mention WBFED to me, I hate to change pen colour to erase pixels and to hunt down disappeared windows." Contents ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This archive includes following fonts: Bah! (13pt proportinal) · Thin, semi-italic, futuristic font. Do I have to tell more? :) Digital Quill (9x6, 11x6) · Timmer did something called "Quill" (even as I've a font with same name ;)) for his Digital Quill font editor and I did some enchange- ments and this is the result... Judge (16pt proportional) · I got the inspiration for this one from title font used in Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson comics. Lava (15x8) · KicStart asked for something like this (thin, rather big, fixed-width serif) on IRC once upon at time. Quartz (11x6) · Thin, non-proportional font with no big thrills. Shark, 8 and 11 point, proportional · Yep, third time when I release the 11pt one, but this time I've changed the xsize from 8 to 10, which seemed to fix little font- sensitivity problem in X-Comm. Simplicus Extremus (8x8) · Thin, "normal" font suitable as Topaz-replacement, take two (#1 was Zen from HK Fonts vol.6). StarAge (13x8) · YAFFFBH (Yet another futuristic, fixed-width font by Hezu). Installation ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ I'm sorry that I haven't provided you with nice Installer-script, but I suppose everybody knows how to copy couple files from place A to place B. In case of these fonts, place A is the place, where you unpacked this archive and place B is your FONTS: dir. Legal mumbo jumbo ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ These fonts are strictly GIFTWARE! This means you may freely distribute them via Internet/Usenet, software libraries such as Fred Fish's, BBSs and other similar ways where nothing or only substancial fee for media, copying and/or p&p is charged. They may not be included in any magazine cover disk or freeware/PD/shareware/commercial product without author's permission (If you're going to gain profit by using these fonts, I want my share!). Then if you decide to use these fonts regularly, you must send a gift (money, delicacy, programs (I would like to see some shareware authors to accept this as a fee ;)), A4000Ts...) to the author. Author ¯¯¯¯¯¯ Is Heikki Kantola, Amiga advocate, computational linguistics student at the University of Helsinki, author of HK Fonts vol.1-7, PC loather, idler extraordinaire, IRC addict (Hezu|N`Kognito@#Amiga), Mac basher, Unix/X fan and what else? You can contact me preferably via E-Mail: Heikki.Kantola@Helsinki.FI Or then if you've no access to 'Net (poor you! :-P) or you're sending me gift (if you like & use my font, I strongly encourage you!), you can send good old snail mail to: Heikki Kantola (during University terms:) (holidays:) Sakarinkatu 3 A 17 Lauttakatu 15 FIN-00500 Helsinki FIN-45700 Kuusankoski Finland And if you've access to IRC, you might spot among the crowd of #Amiga (and actually couple other channels too, but I better not name them as those can't be joined by everybody ;)) person nicknamed Hezu (my IrcII ego) or N`Kognito (when using the absolutely fab irc client for Amiga, Grapevine by Brian "Redwine" Cervany), which happens to be me. ;) I wish welcome all comments, praises, critics, gifts, offers to make new fonts etc... Greetings, thanks and other misc stuff ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ First my warm hellos to my very good friend of mine and the universum's first person to donate me a gift (= 1l of orange juice) for my hard work (and partly because he often drinks major part of my juice reserves when he visits my place ;)), NCO trainee (or whatever the rank is nowadays) Viljo Heikki Viljami Viitanen (also known as 3V) at the Carelian Artillery Regiment, Vekaranjärvi garrison, Valkeala, Finland (finger vviitane@kruuna.helsinki.fi to see how many days he has left of his military service). I want to send my greetings to all nice people at IRC (sorry, no name list as I think if I would write one, I would surely forget somebody ;)). Next, I want to curse bit evebody else but 3V, for not giving/sending me any gifs so far (ok, ok, I haven't sent anything to most of those who ask for something for their share/gift/cardware products either, but...=;*> ). You likely wonder who is that Sami Oinonen to whose memory this font archive has been dedicated, so here's the answer: Sami Kalevi Oinonen was class mate of my little brother and very good friend of mine, who sadly died on the lethal injuries from a car accident. May his soul rest in peace. And all the spelling and grammatical errors and like are all mine!!! :-P English isn't my native language even as I've used it a lot in electronic communications... Last words ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Commodore is DEAD, but Amiga still lives!!!
