                         MOVIE DATABASE v3.0b Amiga
                         ==========================

Welcome to the MOVIE DATABASE v3.0b Amiga!

Improvements & new features since version 3.0a:
-----------------------------------------------

 - fixed a major bug that caused MovieMUI to crash on 68000er based Amigas.
 - MovieMUI now needs MUI 2.2. As as result it is now possible to cycle
   through registers in title-windows.

Improvements & new features since version 3.0:
----------------------------------------------

 - updated the database-files (you can still use the listfiles that came
   with MovieMUI 3.0)
 - removed some small bugs
 - added ARexx-script 'MGuide'
 - updated the documentation

Improvements & new features since version 2.8:
----------------------------------------------

 - MovieMUI 3.0 has been completely rewritten. I am using a completely
different database format now. This makes database access more than 10
   times faster.

 - The GUI has been redesigned. It is possible to open more than 30 output
windows at the same time. Clicking on any entry will perform a new
search and open another window. This way you can easiely browse through
the whole database and proof that Kevin Bacon indeed is the center of
   the universe :-)

 - MovieMUI can be accessed via ARexx-Port. Any feature of the GUI is
supported by the ARexx-Port as well. This package contains some
ARexx-Scripts that perform special tasks not supported by the GUI.
Another ARexx-Script allows implementing the MovieDataBase in
Transamiga-BBSs to support online queries by users of this BBS.

A short info about the MovieDataBase for new users:
---------------------------------------------------

With this database, you have direct access to about 34,000 movies with over
390,000 filmography entries. The database includes filmographies for
actors, directors, writers, composers, cinematographers, editors,
production  designers,  costume  designers  and  producers; plot summaries;
character names; movie ratings; year of release; running times; movie
trivia; quotes; goofs; soundtracks; personal trivia and Academy Award
information. Several thousand of the movies are covered completely from
the major actors to the minor bit players.
A fully featured graphical user interface makes the program easy-to-use.
Please read chapter 2 of the guide-file to learn more about this project or
send an E-Mail with the subject "HELP FAQ" to <movie@ibmpcug.co.uk> to get
a copy of the MovieDatabase FAQ.

Update / Installation of the MovieDataBase 3.0:
-----------------------------------------------

If you want to use _all_ features of the MovieDataBase, you need to have at
least 20-30 MB free diskspace and about 2 MB Ram. A fast processor and a
fast harddiskdrive is very recommended.

The complete database consists of the following files:

    * mdb3_0b_bin.lha contains the main program, the documentation
                         and some ARexx-scripts.

    * mdb3_0a_data1.lha contains all databasefiles, except for the
cast lists. You do need this file!

    * mdb3_0a_data2.lha contains all actors and their characternames.
Although you don't necessarily need this file
you wouldn't want to miss it (What is a movie-
                         database without actors?).

    * mdb3_0a_data3.lha contains all actresses and their characternames.
Although you don't necessarily need this file
you wouldn't want to miss it (What is a movie-
                         database without actresses?).

Note: you may not use the databasefiles that came with mdb2.8 any longer.
You can, however, still use the databasefiles of mdb3.0.

Installation:
-------------

- Unpack the binaries-archive. You don't need to unpack the data archives.
The installer-script will do this for you.

- If you have about 40 MB diskspace available, simply run the
installer-script by double-clicking its icon. If not, read the chapter
about installation in the MovieMUI.guide file.

Please report any bugs and/or difficulties you had while installing/using
the movie database.
