Short: Offline reader, main archive (required) Author: Ultima Thule Software (thor@hstud6.cs.uit.no) Uploader: Petter Nilsen (pettern@icenet.no) Type: comm/mail Replaces: comm/mail/thor222_main.lha 960528 - THOR - Release 2.3 Copyright (C) 1993-1996 Ultima Thule Software, All Rights Reserved. THOR 2.3 is an advanced multi-format offline reader, supporting the QWK, Fido, UUCP, SOUP, Bluewave, Omen, ABBS, MBBS and Hippo (BBBS) message formats. It will also handle TCP-connections with NNTP, SMTP and POP3, with extensive MIME support. Changes in 2.3: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THOR: - Support for NNTP authentication. - ConnectTHOR and CfgTCP are now using the ClassAct BOOPSI GUI system. - MIME text/enriched compliant. Fixed a text/richtext bug that could cause crashes on certain messages. - Full support for MIME message/partial, including garbage collection. This means Thor now almost has a 100% full RFC 1521 implementation (multipart/alternative support should still be made more intelligent.) - No longer require the socket.library emulation when run under AmiTCP. - Automatic decoding of uuencoded files in the message body. - Progressbar when saving/printing multiple messages - "Mark login conference" added to the mark window. - Catchup has a submenu now with "ALL" and "Upto current message" as items. - New window for pack/purge of selected conferences added. - Added support for unarchiving MIME attached archives. - New ARexx function added: OBTAINFILETYPE. It will return in result the filetype of a file using datatypes.library. - HELP index keyword system added when pressing the HELP key in THOR. - If a ARexx script called "MIME.thor" exist in THOR's rexx-dir, it will be called with the filename of the attached file when the user click on a binary attachment icon in THOR. This allows for the same functionality as the uudecode.thor script provided. - The event window will now also show message-id on retract msg events. - On TCP#? types, THOR will handle clicking on the newsfiles window to make a download event. However, some restrictions apply: - Format of the newfiles.txt in the system home dir must be the same as the Aminet RECENT file, with nothing except for the filenames etc. - The EVE_DOWNLOAD event must be ON for the System type TCP or TCP_ONLINE. It's not on as default, but future extensions might use this to get files from Aminet using some ftp client directly from THOR. THOR will provide both the filename and the dir in the event data it creates. - CPS is display after mail and news retrieval. - Made the progressbar on downloading of mail reflect the actual number of bytes read instead of the number of messages. A great advantage when some of the mails are bigger than the others. - Avoids downloading duplicate mails when the DELETE flag is not used. + bug fixes and minor improvements To install this upgrade, use the UpdateThor or InstallThor installer script. QUESTIONS? ~~~~~~~~~~ There is a newsgroup for Thor with the name of alt.sys.amiga.thor. If the group is not available at your newsserver, ask for it by sending a mail to your system admin. --- Petter Nilsen EMail THOR Team: thor@hstud6.cs.uit.no EMail: pettern@icenet.no IRC: Mitchman
