Cyclone is a fidonet compatible point mail editor & tosser. It enables your computer to process e-mail messages transported via a fidonet type network (FTN). It will handle all the basic tasks expected of an e-mail program such as reading, replying to and storing mail. It also has many advanced features that serve to make things easier when handling large amounts of mail, or performing complex tasks.
Cyclone comes into action when 'Packets' of e-mail arrive in your computer. To handle the transfer of packets to & from your Amiga you will need a Mailer program. Cyclone is set-up to use Trapdoor, but it works just fine with other programs like GMS and Gotcha.
Cyclone is the most modern and friendly FTN mail editor currently available for the Amiga. In contrast to the out of date and user hostile interfaces of many older programs Cyclone uses the Magic User Interface (MUI) system to present an intuitive icon-driven interface to the user.
In addition to this Cyclone dispenses with the maze of obscure and complex functions that burden other mail editors, simplifying the program and enhancing ease of use.
Of course, no program can ever hope to provide exactly the tools you need. Cyclone provides a comprehensive ARexx port so that you can add your own features, as well as accessing those produced by third-party developers.
Creating Cyclone has taken over 2 years of hard work. To ensure that this work can continue the program has been released under the concepts of shareware. This evaluation copy of Cyclone has certain limitations that can be removed by registering the software. These limits do not prevent the program from functioning. The evaluation version limitations are:
* No Purge Function.
The purge function removes unwanted messages and waste data from the message base (store). Without this function the program will consume larger amounts of disk space & memory, and become slower as time goes by.
* The Nag Requester.
This is a small requester that pops up whenever you run Cyclone to remind you that the program is unregistered. It can be closed after a short delay.
* No NukeList.
The Nukelist is an advanced feature that allows you to filter out mail that you do not want to read.
* No ARexx Port
The ARexx port will not function on the unregistered version.
* No Taglines
The internal tagline handler is disabled.
