Cyclone Users Guide (Beta-E Revision) - Installation

Installing Cyclone

Before installing Cyclone make sure your C: directory contains a copy of the Amiga Technologies Installer program. Double click on the 'Install' icon and the standard installer program will load. Just follow the on-screen prompts.

When installation is complete you MUST re-boot your Amiga before trying to run Cyclone or lots of unspecified Nasty Things will happen to your system.

The first thing that appears after you load Cyclone will be a name requester, like the one below :

Just type in your name here. It must be your real name, not a nick name or alias as many networks, Fidonet included, do not allow false names.

Next up is the address requester (pictured below). Here you need to type in the network address given to you by the Sysop of the Bulletin Board System you are pointing from. Don't worry if you have been given addresses for more than one network, just enter your Fidonet address here. The others can be configured later.

If you are using an unregistered copy of Cyclone a requester reminding you to pay your registration fee will pop up here. It will appear every time you load Cyclone without a keyfile present. You can click it away after a few moments.

Once that's out of the way the Area list will pop up. At the moment you will only have one area available. This is the Netmail, or private mail, area for the address you entered a few moments ago. When you set up other network addresses Netmail areas will be created for them also.
