Here you can change the name you are known by. You should not need to use this screen.
General
This window shows all the paths and command strings used by Cyclone. Some of them, such as the editor & poll commands, must be altered to fit your system.
Areas
Attributes for all available areas can be changed from this window. Areas are listed on the left hand side, with flags at the top right and strings below them.
The Flags are:
Netmail : Sets this area to a Netmail area. Frozen : Prevents Purge operations. W. Quotes: Quotes will appear white instead of bold. Read Only: Prevents message delete. R. Tags : Appends a random tagline to any message you write.
See below of explanations of the Hdr, Sig and Origin lines.
Networks
Any additional FTNs you wish to access are configured from this window. Please note that new areas will use the first listed network. If areas are to use data for other nets they must be attached to that network manually via the Preferences/Areas window.
MUI
Calls up the Magic User Interface preferences and configuration program.
Write Intros
This window is used to create headers for any messages you create using the 'Write' function. To create a new header just click the 'Add' button. Several control codes are available in Write Headers:

The normal * (bold), _ (Underline) and / (Italic) codes can be used here as well. A preview of how your header will look appears at the bottom of the window.
If you find the built-in editor limiting all Write Intro headers are stored as plain ASCII in the file 'Cyclone:Wintros.Dat'. Be careful not to let your headers exceed 350 characters if editing this file with a text editor.
If you wish an area to use a new header you must configure the area via the Preferences/Areas window.
Reply Intros
As above except headers created here will be used when you reply to a message. One additional code is available : |f (name of sender). ASCII data for reply headers is stored in 'Cyclone:Rintros.Dat'. The 350 char limit applies here also.
Signatures
Signatures are small texts appended to the bottom of any non-netmail messages you write. ASCII data for the signatures is held in the file 'Cyclone:Sigs.Dat'. Sigs can be quite elaborate, but it's best not to use the /*_ control chars because all fido message editing software will interpret these in slightly different ways. What looks good using Cyclone may look silly using other software.
Origins
Origin lines are placed below a signature line and prefixed with ' * Origin'. They are supposed to carry the name of the node at which the message originated, but many people use them as mini taglines. The /*_ control chars are available for origins, but | prefixed codes are not. ASCII data for origins is stored in 'Cyclone:Origins.Dat' with a 58 char line limit.
Hide Kludges
This option toggles whether Cyclone will show internal FTN control, or 'kludge', codes when displaying messages.
Hide Seen-Bys.
As above, but applies to Seen-By kludges. Every FTN node a message passes through adds it's address to the seen-by lines. Can be useful for tracing the route a message has taken over the network.
