	c. 1760 cream-coloured
	earthenware was perfected
	(superseding delftware) by
	Josiah Wedgewood in
	England, Wedgewood also
	devised stoneware typically
	with white decoration in
	Neo-Classical designs on a
	blue ground, still among the
	wares made in Barlaston,
	Staffordshire;
	English softpaste was made
	c. 1745-1810, first in
	Chelsea, later in Bow,
	Derby, and Worcester;
	English hardpaste was first
	made in Plymouth 1768-70,
	and Bristol 1770-81, when
	the stock was removed to
	New Hall in Staffordshire;
	Bone china c. 1789 was first
	produced by Josiah Spode,
	Coalport, near Shrewsbury,
	and Thomas Minton followed,
	as did all English tableware
	of this type from 1815.
19th	Large-scale production of
Century	fine wares, in Britain
	notably Royal Worcester from
	1862, and Royal (Crown)
	Derby form 1876. In the
	USA, potteries established
	in New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
	Ohio, New England, and South
	made earthenware and
	Stoneware utility items and
	earthenware, stoneware, and
	bone china for tableware and
	fine ornaments.
20th	There has been a revival in
Century	the craft of the individual
	potter, for example, Bernard
	Leach, Lucie Rie, and Maria
	Martinez. California
	potteries entered the world
	market.
