MemoMetri ~~~~~~~~~ Version 1.3 (23-Jul-93) Copyright © 1992,1993 Petri Airio INTRODUCTION MemoMetri is a yet another memory gauge. Nothing special, you say! But hold on a minute, there's something that holds a wide gap between MemoMetri and all the rest similar programs - it's that magic thing called configurability! Have you ever seen a typical memory or a disk gauge? They have constant window size, constant look and two menu options, About and Quit. Even IF (I'm yet to see one) they allow you to select the color pens used, the author is usually stucked with his/her four-color out-of-dated Kludgebench Screen, and is unable too see the world around him... Well, as I've said, MemoMetri really is configurable... You can define pens, you can define window size... And much more! And everything via a nice Intuition interface! (Well, if one uses NTSC 640*200 screen, it might not be so nice, but then again, who does?) Oh... Naturally MemoMetri is for OS 37+ only! No 1.3 here! USING THE PROGRAM MemoMetri can be executed via "run" from s:Startup-Sequence OR you can alternatively drop it into your WBStartup drawer. The window has two gauges, one for Chip and one for Fast RAM. By default they show the RAM available, but you can alternatively tell MemoMetri to display the RAM used. OK, now try the menues! "About"... Nothing spectacular. "Menufy"... Try it and look at the Tools menu! "Quit" is obvious. But then, there's the magic: "Preferences"! A relatively large window opens... THE PREFERENCES WINDOW Color Pens: Window background - obvious Bar background - yep Bar fill - the same AvailW background - SEE BELOW! AvailW text - SEE BELOW! Easy! Just activate an option and point the color you want it to be - the MemoMetri window is immediately updated! Task Priority: Can be anything within range -127 ... 127. Values higher than 5 are not recommended. MemoMetri doesn't take much CPU time, so specifying 1 as priority makes everybody happy - other, priority 0 programs won't interfere (So it's REAL TIME) and important system processes/tasks will go on. Refresh Time: Time (1/100th seconds) between refreshes, that is, how often MemoMetri checks the situation. Refresh time is not limited but values between 20 and 200 are fine. System Gagdets: When you are pleased with the size of the main window, turning system gadgets off may make it look prettier. Avail Window: MemoMetri can open another window displaying specific information about the situation in memory in a similar way the C command Avail does. The background and text pens are freely definable. Save, Use, Cancel: MemoMetri keeps it's config file (MemoPrefs) in ENV: and ENVARC: volumes, like the Prefs editors do. LEGAL This program is MODWARE. You can freely distribute it as long as it stays in it's original package. All rights are reserved - you may NOT modify it. And the MODWARE concept means, if you like my product, send new hctechno modules to me!
