Update 28-09-93 :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: THE LAST NEWS CONCERNING FAKE VERSIONS, BUGS, NEW KILLERS AND NEW VIRUS :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 30-08-93 VirusZ 3.12 (59.320 bytes unpacked) is spreaden around. This version is a fake, but harmless. The original 3.07 is 59.320 bytes too! 30-08-93 PC-Task version 2.XXX was reported infected with the EM-Worm virus by Virus-Interceptor. This is NOT... the truth, but a bug in VI, which is now corrected in VI from version 1.14. 22-09-93 VirusZ 3.16 (59.320 bytes unpacked) is spreaden around. This version is a fake, but harmless. The original 3.07 is 59.320 bytes too! 27-09-93 VirusChecker 6.31 is reported spreaden with a new trojans or virus, which can damage bulletin boards. Some BBS and harddisks are now reported down in several countries. Maybe reported false because..... The original VirusChecker mailed direct to SHI from John Veldthuis is 43.360 bytes unpacked. This version have a very strange and serious bug. At some harddisks this version says, that all powerpacked files are infected with the crime virus. If you use the old 6.30 version all these files are ok. The same "fake infected" files are NOT... found by other killers (BootX, VirusZ, and VT). If you unpack the powerpacked files all are ok, no virus at all. Very, very .... strange I mean? This Bug is now reported from: 1. Amiga 2000C 1 MB Chip 8 MB Fast, Kickstart 2.04 (37.174). and Workbench 2.1 in Denmark. (My own good old one) 1. Amiga 2000C 1 MB Chip 4 MB Fast, Kickstart 2.04 (37.174). and Workbench 2.04 in Sweden. 2. Amiga 1200 in Sweden. ATTENTION: Maybe only 10 % of the Amigas with harddisk does have the above mentioned problem. If VirusChecker 6.31 is used from a disk at the same Amiga, I have noticed no problem at all. In the VC 6.31 doc you can read: "Add Crime 2 *". I think this is in fact the problem, you can say maybe "a crime virus update bug"? Conclusion: Maybe don't use the VC 6.31 version. It can be very dangerous because THIS....killer don't give you a warning, before it starts to remove these "fake crime viruses"! Last news: If you use the decrunch feature ON there should be no problem at all. - No bug, no crime viruses! NB. I have send my startup-scripts to John Veldthuis to-day. 28-09-93 THE LAST VERIFIED VIRUS KILLER UPDATES: -------------------------------------- VT 2.56 08-09-93. 131.720 bytes unpacked.
