This is an internal, informal unedited list of fixed bugs, changes and beta notes during the THOR development process. It is provided for those who might find it interesting. The timeline for this list is from the top to the bottom, with recent changes at the bottom. Please read the readme file for this THOR release for an edited list of bugfixes and new features. Later releases includes a RCS (Revision Control System) revision header. Revision 2.57 1997/03/31 09:49:31 pettern - Thor will handle Cc: and add the selected addresses at the top of the message as Cc:'ed lines. - Fixed a problem with ARexx commands forcing updates of windows that were iconified. - Dropdown menu on attachments etc. is not sticky anymore, and this fixes the "autopoint" problem. - "mailto:someuser@somesite.com?subject=subject" kind of links are now handled correctly. - '!' is not allowed in a URL anymore and commas (',') are allowed. - MAKESIGNATURE added to the ARexx interface of THOR. Needs testing. Revision 2.56 1997/01/22 13:13:49 pettern - Unrecoverable deleted events are not shown anymore. - Fixed case-insensitive recognizion of links with the first char in uppercase. - Double-clicking an entry in the user database will enter a message to that person. - THOR will now make sure attachments can be deleted, even if a datatype hold a lock on it, by freeing all inline pictures before deletion. - Multiselection possible in the event window on all but edit. Revision 2.55 1997/01/20 15:03:51 pettern - Fixed a problem with 16-colour filetype icons, a pen array was too small causing overwrites and enforcer hits. - The icon mapping palette was somewhat wrong and it's corrected now. - Fixed a problem with URL link detection when there were several on the same line. - Popdown code rewritten to use callback hook functions on each filetype, making the code easier to maintain and more OO. - Inline can only be used once on an attachment now. - news: links handled now, and will present the option to join the group or start ConnectTHOR on it directly. ConnectTHOR: - 2 new arguments: BROWSENEWS (for entering the newsbrowser directly), and NEWSGROUP used with BROWSENEWS. - Fixed a CT crash when no stack is running (I hope). - Added a "flush log" menu item. - Fixed a memory leak. Revision 2.54 1997/01/10 00:28:30 pettern - Fixed a broken else in a if() test that would cause messages not selected to be deleted. - mailto: not button'ized on non-TCP#?/UUCP/#?SOUP systems. - filetype icons can be of any depth now. Depths above 4 bitplanes will be remapped to 16 colours (unless it's a NewIcon). - Fixed the popup menu again so that it works with the path is stripped off attachments. - Moved the URL detection code before the prosess styles code, so you won't get styles or ANSI sequences on lines that contain a recognized URL. - If no directory for download is specified (like for ftp:// url links), you won't see any "in " in the event window. - Strips the path of single fileattachments in the eventwindow too now. Revision 2.53 1997/01/02 14:22:43 pettern - Clicking on mailto: works almost like enter msg now. - Shortcuts in the File attachment should work now. - The datatype filetype will be in the Type: description on attachments now. - Bitmaps etc. from the filetype icons were allocated but not freed as they should. Fixed. - The 8 pens for normal/MagicWB icons are now allocated on OS 3.0 and higher, and non-Newicon icons are remapped to these pens. - The requester whether to delete attachments have "Delete All" and "Delete None" options now (needs testing). - Link detection is now case-insensitive. - Path and arguments in the default tool on filetype icons are stripped now. Revision 2.52 1996/12/22 11:15:54 pettern - Pre-processes % characters in the FromAddr or ReplyToAddr that could cause crashes when replying so this won't happen. - Rewritting the URL detection code to be able to handle mailto: too. mailto: will not currently behave correctly. Revision 2.51 1996/12/16 18:16:49 pettern - When getting a list of mail packets in the download dir fails, the systems list will still be shown. - Supported for selected icon on the filetypes stuff. - If a filetype icon is a project icon, the default tool will replace Multiview in the popdown menu when clicking on an attachment icon. - Removed a few bugs when there's not enough memory to load the passive conferencelist - If a ftp:// link is not complete with a filename, a popdown menu will appear that lets you select to use an external program on the link. For this to happen, you must have configured a ftp client that'll accept ftp:// links on the command line. AmiFTP supports this. (it must be configured, but you can still have Internal in the visual config on ftp://) Revision 2.50 1996/12/14 15:41:47 pettern - Fixed all known http:// ftp:// detection bugs. - Added support for external icons for the various filetypes in attachments. The icons should reside "filestypes/" in the THOR dir. See included icons for examples. - Added popdown menu instead of requesters when clicking on attachment icons. Requires supplied chooser.gadget V42. - NewIcons support to the external filetype icons added too - Text attachments are shown inline automatically. Revision 2.49 1996/12/11 14:30:28 pettern - Added http:// and ftp:// optional link detection with actions on mouseclick. See the visual config window for configuration options. - Added "Get Current User" to the User database window. Revision 2.48 1996/11/27 02:13:51 pettern - Fixed crashing bug when using attach without a listfont configured. ============================================================================== utnet.library ------------- 4.110: Forwarded messages without comment had a corrupt date. The month of the date header in the forwarded message itself was incorrect. 4.129: No MIME headers were created in newsposting even if quoted-printable encoding was used. Fixed that base64 message parts containing a content-disposition header were not decoded. 4.135: A parentesis that has been screwed up was causing trouble with local copies of messages with attached files and more. 4.164: Features the new undocumented Sortmail Helper 96® feature. 4.173: Fixed replyconf in sortmail helper. Added support for sortmail moves with a custom reply-to address. Sortmail triggers are no longer checked in reverse order. 4.188: Workaround for the gethostname() bug in TermiteTCP (1.10), which means sending mails should work with TermiteTCP too. 4.196: Sortmail Helper search is now case independent. 4.209: Sortmail Helper sometimes didn't set the reply conference correctly, because the wrong taglist was searched. 4.211: The ReplyName tag was set even when only an address and no name appeared in the reply-to header. 4.233: Parsing of message/partial was not always working because of a misplacement of a parentesis. 4.237: Uses MIME quoted headers in outgoing messages header when quoted-printable encoding is used. 4.260: Some text/enriched messages that contained '=' as the last character on the line would cause a crash. 4.276: Sortmail Helper would treat MATCHALL triggers incorrectly when headers sought for did not exist in the message. 4.343: Sortmail Helper now supports COPY fully, when DELMSG is not used too. Sortmail Helper works with multiple ACTIONS, and supports the EXTERNAL command. Notice however, %p is not supported in SCRIPTOPTS, and Arexx clips are not supported. These are likely not to be supported later, so scripts should not use them. When Sortmail Helper finds an ACTION it does not support, all messages matching that trigger is skipped. 4.369: Sortmail Helper: Skipped triggers where DELUSER/S was used. Never added messages when EXTERNAL failed and no COPY action existed. Changed the logging output somewhat. NOLOCAL/S is supported for triggers, and LOCALTO/K globally. 4.420: Instead of listing all the new conferences, the first conference was listed x times in the "New conferences" mail. Added support for the external SplitDigest script in Sortmail Helper. 4.447: If the message had no body, the custom header code would generate a giant file. No empty line between the header and the body is required anymore. Added support for the external SaveMessage and ParseRecent scripts in Sortmail Helper. It is now possible to use From: in the custom header of a message. The configured name will be entered in a Sender: header line when this is used. 4.463: If a mime part had to colons in the filename (As might happen from some Acorn newsreader), parsing would fail. Version 4.447 had an allocation bug in SMH, that caused crash if the SUBSTITUTE option was used in a SaveMessage trigger. SMH handles the new internal "real" kills in bbsread correctly. Note: DESTSYS is still not supported on by SMH on COPY actions. This requires a nasty hack, so I am uncertain if it will ever be supported. Unfortunate "break" in the previous version caused most multi-action trigger matches to fail. End of boundaries for Multipart MIME messages is checked correctly, fixes problems with Imagine mailinglist. gettcp ------ 1.37: When using the NONEWS keyword or aborting while downloading, the progress bar stayed at 100% while parsing messages. It was not possible to break mail retrieval using the Abort-button (probably since 1.23). 1.38: Whenever the number of mail messages was dividable by 16, the last 16 messages where not deleted from the pop server. This caused duplicates the next time mail was retrieved. 1.39: The POP password is remembered from session to session when the PERIODIC argument is used. 1.40: Reports what actions the Sortmail Helper does 1.41: When the PERIODIC argument is used, startup and exit is no longer logged every X minute. Except for the first attempt, nothing is logged when there is no news/mail available. 1.42: The configured nntp port setting was ignored. I was sure I had fixed this? Anyway, the cfgtcp I have here, CfgTCP 2.193 (26.Aug.96) does not save the setting of the nntp port. 1.43: The previous version saved x identical entries to the list of new newsgroups. 1.44: "news:" is entered in front of newsgroup names in the information message concerning new newsgroups. This is done to enable the user to subscribe in Thor by clicking the name in the listview. sendtcp ------- 1.27: Deadlock while cleaning up when sendtcp was called from Thor (TCP_ONLINE). sendtcp was waiting for thor to pick up a arexx command, thor waiting for sendtcp to finish. 1.30: Does no longer list "0 failed" in the log. Changed to use the new ftp function in utnet.library 1.31: Supports Sortmail Helper 1.32: Uses the thorversion environment variable in message headers. packsoup -------- 1.20: Always adds a CR to the end of the lines, since some installations had problems with CRLF. Unsets the error flag if a previously error marked event is successfully packed. Accepts FORWARD events. 1.22: Uses the thorversion environment variable in message headers. parseuucp --------- 3.79: Support for Sortmail Helper Does no longer require large continous buffers to parse mailboxes. senduucp -------- 1.8: Supports Sortmail Helper 1.9: Uses the thorversion environment variable in message headers. THOR 2.4782 (16.Aug.97) 2.5 Final Release - Possible workaround for the garble in popdown menu on fileattachments if no default tool was provided in the icon. - Main reader listview will not scroll without holding the button in after the inline icon has been used. - Kill window has a cycle gadget to hide all deleted entries. - You can now reply to separate message parts (the popdown menu works) - Fixed upload so it doesn't crash - Removed PROGDIR: from the default web browser script to use on http: links. - Fixed Arexx GETMESSAGEARRAY when in Show All mode - x-mailid: (for internal use) and news: recognized as links if the eventtypes EVE_REQUESTMSG and EVE_RETRACTMSG are available on the system type. - search window is ClassAct now - added grouping/sorting of messages in Show ALL mode too. Requires V5 of bbsread.library now. - Fixed a small bug that would stop the rendering of a link too far from the right edge. - Added a description field for kills, so the user can add a comment to each kill/emphasize. - When packing/purging, only the last conf would get its attachments shown in the attachment part of the window. Fixed. - %P in the external editor prefs really works now. Remember that the filename is the last parameter passed in to the external editor. - Receiver of the Cc'ed message will be in the Cc-list now too. - When writing an event, the data about the event will be shown in the info bar at the bottom of the main window. - Added support for detecting https:// links. - Visual Config adds an option to show pictures automatically inline or with the external viewer. - Somewhere in the past, I added new formatting codes for the reply/forward string, but forgot to document them. Here they are: %F - Sender first name %L - Sender last name - Fixed the problem when marking the last message in a conference as unread, then proceeding to the next conference with delayedmarking on. In these cases, the message would still be marked as read. This has been fixed. - Fixed the problems with weird effects in the listview on ftp and news links. - The directory used for copying attachments to will be remembered and will be default on the next file. - If an attachment you copy already exist, you will be asked if it should be overwritten. ConnectTHOR: - Option for filtering out crosspostings so they are only shown ONCE among the headers. ConfigTHOR: - Signature Command was never saved, it was always saved as File. - Option for always encoding mail as quoted-printable added to system->import/export settings. CfgTCP: - Adding and deleting Aminet entries possible. FSE (all changes by Børge Nøst ): - Top/bottom of text (ctrl-up / ctrl-down) - Rightarrow now goes to the very last position on the line and not the second last - Cursor does not forget position when entering empty line. - Cursor validates position on page up/down. utnet.library: 5.12: Fixed crashes which occured when forwarding a message without adding a comment. Quotes names which includes a period, because some mail server is complaining about this. Unfortunate "break" in the previous versions caused most multi-action trigger matches to fail. Deja vu, I know I fixed this in 4.463, but now it was here again! Removed some debug output from the SMTP code. 5.20: Forwarded messages would incorrectly include carrage returns for SOUP and UUCP systems. A mismatch in the fd file might have caused problems for message forwarding. 5.32: An empty base64 message/submessage does not cause parsing to stop anymore (Bug in YAM). Changed to save progress of nonexisting newsgroups in case they show up again later. Less influenced by corrupt message headers (missing lines). 5.66: Would crash if the sortmail config contained only a GLOBAL setting and no triggers. Uses NP_Cli in the SystemTags() call, maybe giving a better path to the rexx programs started from SMH. 5.67: Supports CDNT_MAILFOLDER flag. 5.80: Added support for APOP as authentication. 5.115: SMH now supports the DESTSYS argument for COPY actions. 5.168: If configured, the email address for a conference is accepted when sending mails and newspostings (Useful to avoid spamming). SMH now supports PATTERN in search lines in the sortmail.cfg file. When this keyword is present, the CRITERIA string is compared as an AmigaDOS pattern instead of a substring. SMH now supports FORWARD actions, requires DESTCONF and SENDTO arguments. 5.196: "Out of memory" was reported when a base64 encoded text part contained no data (Generated by buggy YAM). SMH now supports GROUPS (AmigaDOS pattern) in the trigger lines. This makes it possible to use SMH with newsgroups as well as the EMail conference. SMH now supports BODY as search parameter, which lets you scan the body of the messages. This can be combined with PATTERN to do a pattern search in the body. SMH accepts TEXTFILE as an optional argument for forward. If present, this file will be inserted in the beginning of the forwarded message. SMH pattern semantics changed. Pattern was boolean in the previous version, but is now a string. Also, SUBSTR is accepted and prefered instead criteria in the triggers. SMH now supports MAIL actions. This is simular to forward and requires DESTCONF, SUBJECT and TEXTFILE arguments. SENDTO is optional, and defaults to the sender of the message causing the trigger. 5.236: SMH: If there is no action defined, and DELMSG is used in the trigger, the message is never added to the database (this is a kill in other words.) SMH now supports NOT in search lines. SMH now supports the DELUSER (adduser) trigger option. THOR 2.5231 ( 4.Jan.99) 2.6 Final Release - The main listview has complete support for proportional fonts now. There's a slight speed penalty involved with using proportional fonts due to some extra calculations required for the wrap code, but it shouldn't be too bad. - Fixed so that GETCURRENTSYSTEM from an ARexx enter/leave script will report the correct conference at all times. - With the support in utnet.lib now in place, the "no headers" and "minimal headers" options on save are now working. - SAVEMESSAGE from ARexx used utnet in the last beta, but now a few new arguments have been added for better support. - Doubled the minimum stack size set to 16K due to reports of a possible problem with the stack on advanced multipart messages. - You will now be allowed to Edit Data on a Forward Msg event and add a text comment, or remove the previous text comment. - Previous search results will now be cleared in all conferences and not just those that matches the current result. - New popdown menu added in the conferences window for configuring and customizing your own folder setup, along with some other tasks. - New Save window added. - Send Userinfo works again on system types supporting this event. - Thor will no longer add a linefeed after the signature, before any tags are inserted. - Thor will now handle the "Re[2]:" screwup created by YAM. - Thor will not try to iconify itself if the appicon cannot be added to the Workbench (which can happen if Workbench is not running). - The TAB key or the small gadget marked 'S' can now be used to toggle selection of all enties in all requesters where multiple entries can be selected from a list (eg. To Name/Address when sending mail, joining groups, etc). - Get current message thru the (private) msgport added for FilterThor. - Fixed the problem with %s, %ld etc. in requestnotify from ARexx. - Added a new popdown menu in the conferences window for config of folders etc. Fixed other known problems with the new CA conf window. - Added FilterThor to the external menu. - Fixed Catchup to use the new conferences window conf order when proceeding to the next conference after catchup. - Added conferences field in the attachment listview in the pack/purge window. - When marking a subject range as read, the unmarked messages will no longer be removed from the message list window. - Added the needed support in Thor for handling the new headers-only reading modes for queuing articles to download for later. - Conferences window is ClassAct with some neat things added.
