------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HISTORY FOR CD-SERVER BY SIEGEL (TRSI/X-INNOVATION) 1995 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ V0.01 (03-13-95) - First part finished, now testing on my BBS....this is the very first server which allows to download DIRECT from CD- ROM without copying all files to the Download-Pathes first. I made this in fact that I don't see any reason to copy all files, coz I have a Quadra-Speed CD-Rom which is fast enough to give Amiex the Data needed.... (03-14-95) - Changed the Enter-Routine to allow users to use 4,2,6,8 if their Terminal can't emulate the Cursor-Keys. +Only pressing Enter now won't clear the screen, instead CD- Server writes down : ENTER ? FOR COMMAND-LIST... +Implemented a routine to allow CD-Server to use an external Viewer (i.e. mEGA-vIEW :) instead of showing all the files with an own routine...this gives a) more flexibility for the sysop, b) is faaster and c) saves your HD from Frag- menting during the copying/deleting...I love AmigaDOS ..:) (03-15-95) - Removed the 4,2,6,8 KEys, coz if implemented in the CRSR- routine, you couldn't enter those keys!! So if your terminalprogram doesn't support the emulation of CRSRkeys, change your Terminal or type everything for yourself. +Added Lost Carrier Detection, coz one user where dropped and CD-Server hangs!!! Now Fixed... V0.02 (03-28-95) - First Update of CD-sERVER +Found a very hard bug...it could happen that CD-sERVER doesn't 'UnLock' all pathes from CD, so if you change the CD and don't reset your Amiga, the CD-Icon won't disappear from WB...now fixed, all Locks where unlocked when exiting the Program. +Rewritten the Code to use the utility.library instead of using ANSI-C functions, which is much faaster..:) V0.021 (03-29-95) - Update for Beta-Testers *BUG-REPORT FROM ARGON/dTL: In some cases the external viewer from Amiex is unable to find the selected files, this is a very hard error which is currently not fixable! To avoid problems with multi- node-Boards, I have removed the Support of external viewers and replaced it with a simply but 100% Working Ascii-display ! Sorry dudes, but Amiex isn't able to support CD-Roms, and therefore you have to live with some restrictions... +Fixed a very very nasty bug, which crashes the CD-sERVER! V0.03 (04-05-95) - Internal Update for pUNISHMENT iNC. BBS *SUGGESTION FROM RADIOSITY: Now CD-Server's Directory-Display could be stopped by pressing CTRL-C :) +Removed all ANSI-C functions and replaced by ASM-Routines, this saves more than 2kb Code....what a shame on SAS to write such memory-expensive functions...:( (04-08-95) +Added the Support of Pathname-Completion (Written by the one and only BYTEANDI/TRSI :) by pressing the TAB-Key.. Also the * is supported with the TAB-Key-Combination, so the hole C-Shell Comfort iss now available..:) V0.04 (04-19-95) - Internal Update for pUNISHMENT iNC. BBS +Finally, I decided to remove the external Viewersupport, coz there are too many problems with it. Instead of this, I built in a small recognition for Guides and Txt-Files and display them like my wellknown mEGA-vIEW does, coz' the Routines were taken from mEGA-vIEW and slightly improved :) +Added new command called INDEX, allowing you to directly view the Index-Files in the current directory. Those files contains a small overview of all files stored in the current directory. NOTE: Currently I only found those INDEX-Files on Aminet- CD-Roms, therefor it's possible that other Series doesn't supporting this method! V0.041 (04-20-95) - Update for Beta-Testers +Fixed a bug in the Viewing of Files when showing a directory. Now you could use the TAB-Key for the searching of files in the current directory. V0.05 (04-21-95) - Internal Update +Fixed a very hard bug which let sometimes crashes the Computer, btw. hangs the Amiex without gettin' CPU-Time! Now it should work 100%, I couldn't find any Enforcer- hits anymore ! +ByteAndi has rewritten the Main-Argumentparser to give it more flexibility and speed. V0.06 (04-24-95) - Internal Update +Finally we made it, now directory-skipping only by entering the Filename is available, so 'CD' is no longer neccessary, but also supported. +Added CLS - Command as enhancement to CLEAR-Command +Now it's possible to enter complete Pathnames when flagging files, the Path will be splitted and given to Amiex as Filename only. Works with the Download & MarkFile Functions. +If using an PCMCIA-Filesystem which isn't able to support FIB-Blocks and other STANDARD ADOS-Functions, CD-Server now switches automatically to another Progressor when viewing files, only the bytes shown would be then dis- played, without percent progressor. +Now IoErr() is used for error-informations. +From now on the ':' is a restricted key, if an user enter this char, he gets immediatly to the Root of the Drive. This is 1) useful to jump quickly to root, and 2) gave more security! +Added 'A C *' - Command, which 1) removes the Files from the internal flagging list, and 2) also removes all known pathes from CD-Server's internal list. When using it, you will be rejected to the Root-Dir of the Device to avoid problems. (04-25-95) +Removed the old filelister with an incredible faast routine written by Spy/tRSi. This one allows you 1) alpha- betical sorting of the dir, and 2) you get FIRST the dirs, and then the files, like the good old DOpus does :) The internal Pause-Prompt allows you to flag or view files from the current directory.CTRL-C break is also supported. (04-26-95) +Added a better displaying of high values by formating them with dots '.' at every third position...:) +Added to the Dirscan-Pauseprompt the FLAG & VIEW commands. V1.00 (04-29-95) -First and only Public Release ! V1.01 (07-02-95) - First BETA-Release +Fixed a Memory-Eater, which costs you ~300 Bytes each time you press ':' in prompt. All other Allocations were now checked, too. +Changed the formatting of numbers with a new routine written by Strider/SDC ... thx a lot dude! +Added Multi-Device-Support !!! Now CD-Server is able to work on more than only one device when running. To use this feature, I have to change the ToolTypes...here's the List: DEVICE= -> DEVICE.(x)= NAME.(x)= Where (x) stands for the number of the device. Look in the Icon for more informations. NAME allows you to enter a short description (60 Chars) for the device,i.e. what files could be found there etc....you don't have to enter here anything, you could also leave this tooltypes out. MAX_DEVICES= Here you have to enter the highest number of supported Devices. Look in the updated Docfile for more informations about this new option. A new command is also installed called 'CHANGE'...again please look in the docfile for more informations. (07-25-95) - Assign Support added, now you could create an assign to any directory located anywhere on any device, enter this assign as device in the Icon and now all Users could enter this directory with all subdirs in it, but it's impossible to jump to the assign's parent directory. V1.02 (07-26-95) - Next Beta-Release +Fixed a little nasty bug in the Assignment-Support, now you could switch back to any directory..:) +Pathnames will now be cutted if the max. Length of the path is longer than 30 Chars...in this case you see in front of the strings '...' to indicate that this Path is not completly visable. So you have at any time 46 Chars for entering commands etc...I think that should be enough. +Added progress-indicator when loading dirs...so you see that CD-Server is doing something and is not fucking up! V1.03 (08-14-95) - Official next Betarelease +Added the FAME-Support! Now you don't need any longer the SERVER: Assign to use CD-Server ! From this Version on, all Filenames will be flagged with their full path, this allows you to easily flag in CD-Server and have a lost carrier, the BBS remembers all files! This allows you to use the wildcards, too! But remember, all this nice things are only working under FAME ! ----------------------------------------------------------------------[EOF]----
