CDTrans v0.01 - doC wHoO - ZoNe ONe - 1-2O9-847-7854 / 4889 Coded in pure Assembly and utilizing the AEDoor.library by SiNTAX/WoT for the smallest executable and super speed. woopee!! 1) What is it? ----------- If you are using a CDRom Drive for your bbs, this just might be the little program you have been waiting for. Your users then can select files directly from your CDRom Drive and my door will transfer the files stored on your CD to the 'assigned' BBS directory for your Bulletin Board for the users to download. I am sure you will be impressed with the speed of this door. I am using the NEC-21O scsi, dual speed (325 ms) CDRom drive. 2) Making your filelist and Why? ----------------------------- If your not familier with the pathing for Ami Express, you must set up the download paths in each of your conference icons. If you have a lot of paths you know the pain it is to type them all in. By using my door and utilizing a key string command for the basic 'list' program (that should be in your 'c:' directory) like this.. ie: List LFORMAT="%S%S" ALL FILES [DIR] >BBS:CDIndex/CDDir1.bbs my first usage: List LFORMAT="%S%S" ALL FILES CD0:graphics/ >BBS:CDIndex/CDDir1.BBS my second usage: List LFORMAT="%S%S" ALL FILES CD0:intros/ >BBS:CDIndex/CDDir2.bbs This will create a text file with all the (paths), both directories, and filenames that are on your CD. So that my door can search for the names the user wishes to download much faster. Plus no hassel of typing in all those directories by hand in your icons. Don't forget if your like me and have several dirs on one CD, you can merge all these together by changing the output filename ie: 'CDDir1.BBS to CDDir2.bbs' then merging both them together making one file and rename it to: CDDir1.bbs 3) Installation 'CDTrans' ---------------------- A: Copy the Libs/AEDoor.library to your SYS:Libs/ directory. * FOR SURE! * or this nice little door will not work. B: Create a directory like this: BBS:CDIndex/ to store your filelist. C: Create a directory like this: BBS:Node0/CDTrans/ in each node that is a active online node. D: Copy all the files that are in my archive directory Doors: to your BBS:Doors/ directory. E. Copy the door icon from my archive BBS:Commands/BBSCmd/ to your BBS:Commands/BBSCmd/ directory. F. Now for your paths. Add to the conference icon that you wish to use as your Archive or CDRom conference, your paths like this: ie: DLPATH.1=DH0:BBS/NODE1/CDTRANS/ DLPATH.2=DH0:BBS/NODE2/CDTRANS/ DLPATH.3=DH0:BBS/NODE3/CDTRANS/ and so on.. Change the paths to your needs. This ends the installation for my door. AGAIN! do not forget to copy the AEDoor.library to your libs: directory. 4) Must! clean up -------------- Add to all your logoff batch scripts this line to delete all files that have been copied to these directories while the user was online. ie: DELETE BBS:NODE1/CDTRANS/#? QUIET DELETE BBS:NODE2/CDTRANS/#? QUIET DELETE BBS:NODE3/CDTRANS/#? QUIET and so on.. IF YOU FORGET THIS! your going to fill up your hard drive with the files your users have downloaded. 5) Bugs None! OPPS!.. Well.. maybe one.. -------------------------------------- If there is not a blank line at the top of the CDDIR1.BBS file list, my scan routine misses the first filename in the list.. edit the listing and place a blank line at the top of the file. I have included a listing so you can see what it should look like. BBS:CDIndex/CDDir1.BBS Copy routines used within my door are straight Amiga Dos Library calls and my door should run on all Amigas and Ami-Express versions. If you have a problem, better check and see if you copied the AEDoor.library to you LIBS directory. 8) The Test -------- If I have done my job writing the docs for my door correctly and you have followed them to the letter, you are ready to test the installation. You can check your installation in the LOCAL mode on your private node to make sure all is working correctly. If all has gone well, let all your users know my door is ready for them to use.
