I don't particularly like using the shell, so I get annoyed trying to use LHA and LZX with their long commands. I often make typing mistakes and the program hasn't got a clue what I'm trying to do. Hey! Why don't I create a workbench GUI to do all the work for me? This is what I did. I know there are loads of GUIs for LHA but I hadn't found one which suited my needs. After a week of constant programming after school I had finished. This is several versions later and contains lots more features. @{" Features " link features} @endnode ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- @node "Features" "Features" @{b}Here are a list of some of QuickLHA's features: @{b}°@{ub} Small, easy, simple GUI. Great to use. @{b}°@{ub} Can compress files as well as decompressing them. @{b}°@{ub} Has multiple file requesters. Can compress and decompress many files with NO extra work. Will compress lots of files and dirs into one archive. @{b}°@{ub} Supports LHA, LZX, UNLZX and DLD programs. @{b}°@{ub} ...And lots more! @endnode ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- @node "Requirements" "System Requirements" @{b}So you want to use QuickLHA then? If so you'll need the following stuff: @{b}°@{ub} Workbench 2.0 @{b}°@{ub} Gadtools Library @{b}°@{ub} Reqtools Library (copyright © by Nico François) @{b}°@{ub} Diskfont Library @{b}°@{ub} LHA, LZX, UNLZX and/or DLD (aka Decrunch) They aren't exactly huge requirements, if you haven't got WB2.0 then you should upgrade. If the two required libraries are not included you shouldn't find it too hard to get hold of them. You only need one of the programs for the program to be of any use but the more you have the better. @{b}P.S. If you have a cruncher/decruncher program which you would like to be supported in QuickLHA see @{"Contacting the Author" link author} @{ub} @endnode ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- @node tools "Tooltypes" @{b}Here are a list of the tooltypes and their functions: @{b}°@{ub} FONT= : This allows you to set the font. The font has to be in the "FONTS:" dir. Don't forget the ".font" suffix. @{b}Default=Topaz.font @{b}°@{ub} FONTSIZE= : This sets the fontsize for above font. @{b}Default=8 @{b}°@{ub} XPOS= : Sets the X position of the window in pixels. @{b}Has No Default @{b}°@{ub} YPOS= : Same as above, but sets Y position @{b}°@{ub} CENTRE= : This will centre the window on the current screen. If this is turned on the XOPS and YPOS tooltypes are ignored. @{b} Default=YES @{b}°@{ub} WITDH= : Sets the width of the window in pixels. @{b}Minimum=300 Default=300 @{b}°@{ub} HEIGHT= : Sets the height of the window in pixels. @{b}Minimum=50 Default=50 The default values given are those which are used when the tooltype is not available. @endnode ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- @node install "Installation" @{b} How to install QuickLHA:@{ub} Installation is pretty easy as I've included a script which takes care of it all. I started programming in Blitz Basic 2.1 about 4 months ago. After loads of hard work after school I've decided to release my program into the Amiga Community. I hope you like this program, don't forget it is my first program so don't treat it too harshly. @endnode @node author "Contacting the Author" @{b}Here is info on how to contact me:@{ub} PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE write to me. I encourage you to send me your comments/complaints/ideas about the program. Here is my address: @{b}120 Porter Road Brighton Hill Basingstoke HANTS ENGLAND RG22 4JT@{ub} Well there it is! I'd really love it if you sent me your ideas for the program. Also if you've got a compressor/decompress program that you've written or have send it to me and I'll probably include support for the program on the next QuickLHA. Make sure you include info on how to use the program and any docs. The program MUST be useable from a CLI too. @{b}If you do send me an unsupported program you will become a registered of the soon-to-be-released version 3. If you have a program which you'd like to be supported but can't send to me because it is shareware or for some other reason then just send me detailed instructions on how to use the program.@{ub} Also please tell me about any problems you are having. Make sure you include a detailed desciption of your system and what is going wrong. @endnode @node future "Next Versions?" @{b}Want to know about the next version? Read on:@{ub} Until people send me unsupported programs I won't write another version. In the next version I will be including DMS support as well as support for XFD and loads of other programs. @endnode
