$VER: SEDIT DOC Shelter Mailer Config Editor Williamson 55.00 Sedit v55.01 usage: Sedit port eg: Sedit Porticus2 You may edit one of the following Shelter WPL configuration items. Changes will remain active until mailer is reloaded or regenerated. Changes only apply to the port specified and do not appear in the menus Please note that some items are not editable M - Magic Names, edit or ADD new entry I - Info Names, edit filename to display to user B - BBS commands, edit launch command D - Door commands edit launch command Q - Quit Discussion: Once upon a time, all menu items were stored as wpl variables, making it possible to change any item by simply issuing a wplrexx "Set" command. However, having the menu item names and description as variable did slow things down. So I changes these so that they were hardcoded at time of generation. This allowed me to add the feature of using either a wpl module or user edited text files for the menus. Sedit allows you to edit some of the variables associated with menus, without having to know the names of the variables. However, due to the design constraint mentioned above, you cannot change what is displayed to the user in most cases, unless you are using menutext files. What Sedit does give you, is the ability to change or ADD MAGIC names and the file sent, change the TEXT file set, and edit BBS and DOOR launch commands. The last two should be a big help when trying things out.
